SON OF MAN - BY J W LUMAN - LESSON 1 We are looking for the view of Christ that is coming forth in the heavens. And I want to give a little overview of that. We will be dealing with the title, "SON OF MAN". It is the SON OF MAN, that title that is used when we speak of what traditionalist would call the Second Coming of the Lord or the coming of the Lord. My God, it's been divided up into so many areas now. A Coming - The coming - The Lord is Coming - Judgment Day - Kingdom Come. Maybe I can direct your attention to Matthew 24 - the coming that is spoken of here which is the coming of the SON OF MAN. In order for that to make a lot of sense to us, we should come first to some understanding of who this SON OF MAN is. The ultimate view is this SON OF MAN. I think we should focus our attention on this SON OF MAN and how he comes to be - how he came to be. He doesn't just happen. How he came to be - folks, this is so extremely important because there is a way, a singular way in which the SON OF MAN came to be. Now the SON OF GOD is out from the beginning. "In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God, the Word was God." SON OF GOD is for all practical purposes, as far as my finite mind can go back without beginning in that He is from the beginning and comes out from the beginning and it is He that is spoken of as that Living, Eternal Word who is in the beginning with God, the same with God, made flesh and all of that. And there is that view of Christ, there is that understanding of Christ as the SON OF GOD that we must have. But there is a view of Him as the SON OF MAN that is now beginning to break forth in the heavens, and it is that view that will have its manifestation in the earth - the view of Him as the SON OF MAN. And it is in this view that you and I have our relationship with Him and with the Father. It is only with Him as SON OF MAN that we have any relationship at all. Outside of that we have no relationship with Him, and I want you to see that. My thought now with regard to the SON OF MAN is where does He come from? The SON OF MAN, where does He begin? Where is His beginning? How does He come forth? And the scripture has a great deal to say about that. Now perhaps it will help us to just turn our attention to Philippians the second chapter. I will say this, our relationship to Christ is much more intimate and personal than most believers dare to consider. And what we have been dealing with recently in the Lord's Body, is this ultimate view of our salvation, coming to God's ultimate intention with regard to you and I in His Son - coming to that. Now, if you come to that, then you will manifest it. That's like turning the light on, and nothing happening in the room. Well, the light is on, how come it's dark? Well, I don't know. Well honey, if the light's on, it's not dark. And to the degree that He is revealed in you, to that degree you are not dark. To that degree you are a light wherever you are. And you are a manifestation of Him in that measure, wherever you are. And if we are not a manifestation of Him in a particular way, it is because then we are not knowing Him in that way. There is a view coming into the heavens, and to just say that doesn't count for much, but maybe the Lord will enable us to gather some things up in that, and it will be more than me just saying it. There is a view, and the view that is coming forth is of Him, but it is of Him in an ultimate way - in a way that gathers up everything of salvation, everything of redemption. Within that is held forgiveness, restoration, reconciliation - all of these terms that relate - they are all gathered up in that. And the MAN that represents all of that is coming into view. The MAN I said that represents God's ultimate intention - the MAN - MAN - God has always looked to a MAN, and I'm not talking about an Adam man. Unto this man will I look. And God's whole ultimate intention has been to have for himself a dwelling place in such a man because only a MAN, in the true fashion of a MAN, can give God the true expression that He must have. Nothing else can do that. No other form can do that. So the ultimate view of everything that relates to salvation is to be seen IN AND AS A MAN. And it is there that we must find ourselves - not in the old way by any means, but in a new way, and a living way, where it is indeed to the furtherance, to the extreme, it is NOT I, BUT CHRIST! And such a view of Him is by the Spirit of God, and according to the pattern of God and the timing of God, beginning to make its appearance in the heavens. And He shall appear in the heavens before He ever has His appearing in the earth. And that appearing is all wrapped up in this term, SON OF MAN. Well, then it is this view of Christ that we are interested in because it is with Him in this view, that we are associated and related, and it is in this view of Him that we come to know salvation in its ultimate form and its ultimate intention. The firstborn of the new creation, the firstborn, the pattern of it, the fulness of it, the exactness of it is SON OF MAN. So now, let's approach it from this way - Philippians the second chapter, let's read verse 5. "Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus." Now it is speaking here, in relating this mind. "Let this mind be in you..." It's all coming to the mind of Christ, being formed in the creation of Christ by the Holy Spirit. Paul deals with this as the renewing of the mind. He deals with this as Christ being formed in you. He deals with this as knowing as we are known - it is all the same thing. It is the coming to the fulness of the mind of Christ, or the fulness of the mind of the Spirit, or the fulness of Truth as the Truth is represented and personified in Him. The thing that caught my eye just now was the word "also" because the word "also" gathers it all up and says that it not only must be the same mind but it must be that mind in the same measure. We must understand this is what we're talking about here. Not just some view, but an ultimate view; not just His mind, but the fulness of it. Now folks, I'm telling you, we are being pressed by the Spirit - now I'm talking about in the heavens - those who are living there and dwelling there, and I have no comment on those who aren't, those who have passed over from death into life, those in whom the veil is done away. You see the Lord has corrected me on a lot of stuff. I started to say 'Those who have passed through the veil.' Well now, that sounds good and preaches good and creates super saints. But the fact of the matter is you don't pass through the veil, for God's sake, the VEIL IS DONE AWAY!. He didn't pass through the veil - He rent the veil, and the veil is done away. We have all this stuff - "living beyond the veil." Well I would say, "living without the veil" - the veil is done away. It either is done away or it isn't. Now I know the veil remains upon many hearts, but I'm not dealing with that. I'm dealing with you in the reality of the Truth as it is in Christ. This is what I want us to hear - The Truth as it is in Christ because this is where the Holy Spirit is ministering, this is where He's bringing us folks. This is the whole intent, the whole thrust of the Spirit of God just now. So it is the view of Him that is coming to those who are passed from death unto life - to those in whom the veil is done away. And if you're still having trouble with the veil, then I am telling you, this is not the view for you, nor will you see Him in this way, because the veil will block it. But in reality, the veil is done away. What I mean by that is the veil is not found in Christ - it is done away in Him. But for the veil to have been done away in you takes a little more than you just saying it was. There is the actuality of the veil being done away - because the veil is YOU and it is ME. The veil is the collective humanity. The veil in the tabernacle represented collective humanity - that's the thing that was rent. That's the thing that was done away. If it is still upon your heart it is because you are still seeing yourself in collective humanity - that veil that divides from what is actually the Glory of God! Well, that veil is not found in Christ. It is done away and those who have come in the development of the mind of Christ (in you, the renewing of the mind), those who have come from death unto life - that's what we're going to deal with - those who have come to an acknowledgment of the Truth (Paul uses these terms), because the Truth is the Truth whether I ever acknowledge it or not. Israel couldn't cross over into Canaan not because Canaan wasn't there, but they would not acknowledge the Truth. And the biblical term for that is 'unbelief' - they wouldn't acknowledge the Truth. YOU PASS OVER IN THE ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF THE TRUTH. My Lord, surely we know that - what was standing out in the middle of the river? The Priesthood bearing what on their shoulders? Certainly not the brazen altar, but the Ark of the Covenant, which had summed up in it everything with regard to God's ultimate intention with regard to man. And they passed over in acknowledgment of the Truth, making the river Jordan certainly not the river of death at all, but the river of divine revelation or realization - everything that's ever come up out of it has come up in significance of divine revelation including the Lord Jesus! When He was baptized, came up out of it and the heavens were opened and He as the SON OF MAN, not as the SON OF GOD, but as the SON OF MAN was recognized by His Father. Now, He was recognized by the Father as the SON OF GOD when He was born of a virgin. But He was recognized as the SON OF MAN at the river Jordan. Furthermore, it was as the SON OF MAN that He was tested. He was recognized as the SON OF MAN on the Mount of Transfiguration because there is the ultimate view of this man. That was demonstrated before the Church and shall be demonstrated in the midst of the Church in all that the term 'demonstration' could possibly sum up and mean. Divine, heavenly demonstration - that the church may be clothed upon with him! The ACKNOWLEDGMENT. So there is a view for those who have by the acknowledgment of the Truth passed from life unto death. Now this has been an unusual several months in our travelling within the Lord's Body. Because I've had to stand in places that I've stood in for years, look at people that I've know for years, and realize that while I was there maybe for the week, that a good percentage of those people understood nothing of what I was saying. Because I've been forbidden of the Lord to go back to the first view I dealt with for thirty years - that view of Him that actually brings you from death unto life - that view of Him that actually does away with the veil. I've watched people for thirty years fight that view and throw tantrums about it because it is the bloody view of the cross. Now we never get away from the view of the cross, but it changes from death to life. But I have dealt for thirty years with people who have just wanted to get on by the death and get in to the life, and in theology that got by the death and got into the life, but they never passed over. They've jumped over into the terminologies, and I've seen the perversions of it until it has made me sick. And I have seen also those who have come to that view of the cross and have camped on it there and have just made that their gospel - THE OLD MAN IS DEAD! Yes, indeed he is. Whether or not any of us have ever embraced that or not, he is. Now, you have to come to the acknowledgment. That whole thing has to take place in the center of your heart and it is just as real in you at that time as it was on Golgotha - just as real, just as dynamic, just as sure, just as painful, just as absolute. Now I'm not talking about a theology. I'm talking about an experiencing of Him. Because whatever view you have of Christ, you will experience Him in that view. Now, I know we all want to experience His Glory, but you will experience none of it until you have experienced Him in His Death. So let's just hang on to that because if we're going to have an experiential salvation, then we're going to experience the whole thing. You are going to experience HIS DEATH, you're going to experience HIS BURIAL, you're going to experience HIS RESURRECTION, and His Resurrection is NOT you and me coming forth in any way at all. You're going to experience the realization of knowing that there isn't anybody who lives here, but HIM! And that's a whole lot different than experiencing JW coming forth in the Resurrection because he's tired of the death message. Well, you can do that but you haven't really passed over. You've, like Israel, you've tried to do it in your own way, and it won't work. You've looked over - you know, all these types are there. But there was finally a passing. And it was in the acknowledgment of everything the Ark of the Covenant symbolizes, and the Ark of the Covenant symbolizes it all - it symbolizes the death, the burial, the resurrection; it symbolizes the judgment, it symbolizes the glory, it symbolizes it all. You don't skip any of it. All of this has had to be an acknowledgment - AN ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF TRUTH. And I'm simply saying that, and I'm not counting heads, I just have come to realize in the Spirit from place to place there are folks who are not getting this, and I realize that in many cases they are folks who have sought to short-cut the cross in some way or another. Or they have come to just believe that the whole of the Gospel is just getting Adam dead. Well, God is interested in a little more than just getting Adam dead - there's a little more to it than that. Now until you and I come to really realize that, I suppose there isn't any more to it. But having acknowledged that, there's a whole lot more. And that is THE LIVING CHRIST! My point is that before you can view Him in this view and really associate with Him as SON OF MAN, you have to come in acknowledgment of the Truth. You have to come the same way He came. There's no shortcut. So - Philippians 2:5 - "Who, being in the form of God thought it not robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, took upon Him the form of a servant, (this word 'form of a servant' and 'form of God' - the word 'form' is exactly the same. But there was an absolute change of form here.) was made in the likeness of man, (that means mankind, Adam is the correct translation), and being formed as a man (again Adam), he humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross." Now, that's where I want to pick up because it is here that we are really first brought to grips with the SON OF MAN. If we had a diagram of the "Old Man" we'd put him on one side. I would just like to sum up all of humanity, with our names there. I found out years ago "the old man" wasn't an affliction I had, it was me! Humanity - Adam. "Obedient unto death.." How many of you know that the old man is dead and has always been dead - dead in sin. Yes, dead. I mean absolutely dead, having no life - dead. I mean absolutely dead, having no life - dead. And he has been under that promise of God that thou, "In the day that you eat...thou shalt surely die." The writer of Hebrews says it is a time appointed unto man. "It is appointed unto man once to die..." Once - once and for all - to die. Now. "He (Christ) became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross." - the ultimate death. What a glorious death. There was a time that I looked at the cross and the only thing I saw was the old man dead. But you see, the old man is dead, whether there ever was a cross or not. Death reigned from Adam unto Moses and the administration of Moses simply highlighted it. Then what in the world took place at the cross? Well, it's an altogether different death. Yes sir, it is called HIS DEATH. Paul specifically calls it HIS DEATH. There has never been one like it - HIS DEATH, HIS BURIAL, HIS RESURRECTION. There isn't any other resurrection, there isn't any other death either like that. Well, what of Adam? Well, he's dealt with there in judgment. Let's turn to John 3. When we get through we'll have one man left, and that's the SON OF MAN. John 3 verse 13, "No man (no man) hath ascended up to heaven but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of Man which is in heaven, and as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up." Now the interesting thing about this whole story here is this term "lifted up". The term "lifted up" as we'll find out in the 12th chapter means "exalted up out of the earth." My attention was just drawn to that by the Spirit of God sometime back and so I spent some time with that. And the conclusion of my time with that was that this is not signifying what I had previously associated with the cross as death. It's not signifying what I had previously associated with the cross, period. The cross had never been to me, a place of exaltation. Now I have used a circle in diagramming to show the risen Christ and just exalted that to pieces - that's the exaltation. And the cross had always seem to me a very despicable thing. And in the mind of most believers today it still is. That's why we have so many trying to dodge it, and preach sermons about it who have never experienced it, saying we've got to get beyond it. There is a MAN exalted. Now I know Jesus speaks of this, and I know all of His words, and I've gone back and looked them all up and I've searched them out, and I'm sure you will do the same thing. I'm telling you, here - at the cross is where the SON OF MAN is finally seen. Now I know that the Lord refers to the SON OF MAN in several places, but if you look carefully at what He's saying, you'll always be able to draw a direct arrow from it to the CROSS. You just go back and see if I'm not telling you the truth. I don't care where it is. Here is where the whole thing, even this one who came up out of Jordan, symbolically there, of one who is crossing from death unto life - in the acknowledgment of the Spirit, the heavens are opened, and God is saying, "THIS IS MY ULTIMATE SON, THIS IS THE ULTIMATE." The Lord Jesus was there prefiguring, prefiguring, forerunning the very ultimate work of salvation - which is the SON OF MAN - One who comes forth by death, by burial, by resurrection - THAT ONE IS THE SON OF MAN. No other can qualify as being the SON OF MAN. Jordan represented the realization of death, burial, resurrection. Jordan for Israel represented not death, but the realization of death, burial, resurrection. All of that had already been represented by the house with the blood, by the burial in the Red Sea, by all of that and in the tabernacle. But the realization, the acknowledgment of it is seen at Jordan. So it was with Naaman in his dipping seven times. It's always the place of the acknowledgment of the Truth, and when that happens, A NEW MAN ALWAYS APPEARS! Always! And He appears in TRUTH! And at the Jordan a New Man appears, the forerunner, the person of the SON OF MAN but one who would bring forth many of his own kind. "Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone, but if it does, bringeth forth much of itself." Now, that's why I say 'forerunner' - because He doesn't live alone here - He lives, but He doesn't live alone. He only lives, but He doesn't live alone. HE LIVES IN INCREASE. This Man (SON OF MAN) is the full work of what the forerunner was a foretaste of. Because this man, the SON OF MAN is the fulness of the forerunner. Jesus kept saying that all the time. He could only do so much, only say so much, only go so much, but not the one that is to come - NO - He'll not be so limited. Hallelujah to God! It's the same one, the same one - just multiplied - just in absolute increase. Now that has a note of Glory about it, but it also has a note of solemnity. Because honey, He's the One. HE'S THE ONLY ONE! And this One is not like Adam. This One experienced the cross - for the purposes of death that He may bring forth a body that would never die. HALLELUJAH! See, what I'm trying to tell you is He bore the judgment of it all - He was obedient. He didn't go there disobedient. He was obedient and He bore the judgment of that, and He bore the shame of that, but He did it for the joy that was set before Him. And the joy was there as well, because what I'm trying to tell you is that there is a death that is DEAD IN SIN, DEAD BY SIN, and nothing good ever comes out of that. And at the cross that death was sealed and pronounced and judgment came upon mankind - judgment came them. That's why when you and I come in Christ to the acknowledgment of that - that's why, My God, see, the judgment that He took, you bear in your heart, against the man you were by your first birth. Do you understand? You come to an acknowledgment of everything that the Son of God acknowledged, and bore on the cross, and all of that acknowledgment is with regard to the old man being no more. The veil - MAN - Man, the veil that blocks out, hides, shades, shields the Glory of God, which is what this Man - THE SON OF MAN, the New Creation, is. I will tell you that this is God in His Glory! This is not God having made a masterpiece and standing over there looking at it - this is God in the midst of His masterpiece. This is God in His Glory! This is John 17. This is God appearing in His Glory - that's what this Man is (the New Creation). And, oh, the solemnity of that, that means you and I can't be found there as we are in the old creation. We're not dealing with matters of theology here - we're dealing with the reality of Christ. We're dealing with the experiencing, we're dealing with the renewing of the mind - a genuine, absolute God-ordained, Holy Ghost stamped renewing. I don't mean a changing of attitudes - I mean a renewing of the mind. I mean an acknowledging of the Truth whereby we pass from death unto life. We who? We who are in Christ! There are many who are in Christ who in their hearts, and because of lack of acknowledgment of Truth, they have not yet passed from death unto life - they still see themselves in and as the old man, trying to live like Jesus. They have not passed from death unto life - not in their hearts. They have not done so according to the teaching here of John 5 verse 24, "Verily, verily I say unto you, he that heareth my words and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life and shall not come to condemnation but is passed from death unto life. Verily, verily I say unto you the hour is coming and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God and they that hear shall live." HALLELUJAH! And the only voice that the SON OF MAN hears is the voice of the Son of God. All right, "obedient unto death..." Let's go to John 12 verse 23 and 24. "The hour is come that the Son of Man should be glorified." What is this business - that He should be glorified? Here the SON OF MAN is glorified. Both of these types are shown in the Lord Jesus - one at the Jordan, one at the Mt. Transfiguration. But that He should be glorified - He is glorified (in the New Creation) in that there are many, all who are One. Now is the time that the SON OF MAN be glorified, but He says except it be done this way, it can not be done - except through death, burial and resurrection. "Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone..." And in this is all His Death, His Burial, His Resurrection. Now I want to emphasize to you - Adam has nothing to do with this! That's the judgment you and I have got to come to, and too many of us in Christ, have not yet come to that judgment. Now see, the SON OF MAN, coming forth in His Glory, shall bring that judgment right into the earth. Why? Well, because He is by that judgment, He is of that judgment, He has been judged by that judgment. He bears that judgment. But the judgment is against this man (Adam) and it is that this man Adam does not exist. And if he does in our hearts, I'm telling you if he still does, we're not seeing the Glory of God, because the veil has been done away in Christ. We're not seeing our union with Christ as this Son. It is impossible for Adam to have an inheritance with the SON OF MAN - there is no kinship for Adam in Christ. And I can't make that judgment concerning me until He appears in me, and that which is not Him is blatantly revealed. Thank God it's also done away with in the light of His appearing. But what I'm telling you if there is that veil still in you, then we are not in line for the view of this SON OF MAN. And it is this Son who is being revealed in the midst of the Church. But notice the Church there is referred to as seven and as gold. My point is there is this One - the SON OF MAN - to be revealed in the midst of the Church - that the Church might fully identify with and assume the identify of this One - Bear The Name. "He that loveth his life shall lose it..." I'm telling you, that's about as simple as it can be said. "He that hateth his life in this world..." See, I could never really say that. Every time I would say that word 'hate' it would be kind of tongue-in-cheek. Well, God didn't really mean that. And of course, we hear most of our ministry today, and particularly in what we would call the "mainstream", have that love- consciousness about them, that we can't hate anybody. But God hates the old man, and hates the flesh, and when we come to view our life here (in Christ), we will come to hate it too. You will hate anything that is cursed of God and hung on the cross - you will come to hate it. You see our carnal idea of this is, "put second" - no - that means hate. It doesn't mean "put second", it means "reckoned non-existent". It means that we must understand it is an enemy of God, at enmity with God, hung on the cross in the body of His Son, the entire wrath and judgment of God comes upon it and it is to be hated and despised. And until we come to that, we will never come to the fulness of love, nor will we ever be able to manifest true love to anybody. Now darling, what I'm telling you is changing from one creation to another one; acknowledging - we have presented this in light of the Word as Regeneration . Here is one generation - here is another one - regeneration. They haven't got anything to do with one another. And we follow Jesus in the regeneration. In the Bible "regeneration" in Matthew 19 simply means "the restoration of all things, reconciliation of all things, restitution of all things". And Jesus is saying, if you follow me, in the regeneration when the SON OF MAN is seated in His throne - lots to be said there. We won't wade off there, but the point that I'm making is it is absolutely, totally different one from the other. And more so, my little statement that I read to you in the beginning- most of us have not even dared to consider our relationship with Him. See, we're always wanting to get Adam linked up to Him and then it becomes a perverted, perverse, ugly, sorry thing. Because then it's man, trying to be God, man playing God, and it gets spooky. That's not what we are talking about. We are talking about the ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF TRUTH that will strip you down to the bone and leave nothing standing there to be clothed upon - but CHRIST! Now we are talking about that - THE ACKNOWLEDGMENT. So here, judgment comes. John 12 verse 30. "Jesus answered and said, This voice is not because of me but for your sakes. Now is the judgment of this world..." and the term 'world' there means mankind, the inhabited world. It's not talking about an age - that which pertains to space, not time; order - the order of mankind. "Now is the judgment of this order. Now is the judgment of this world". Thank God there's a world to come - this world (New Creation). The writer of the Hebrews says "the world to come of which we speak". Wouldn't it be wonderful if that was the only world of which we spoke? "The world to come of which we speak..." isn't given to angels but to MAN, but we know it's a different kind of MAN, don't we? It's the MAN that we're brought forth. But where is the beginning of that Man? Hebrews 2, "But we see Jesus..." How do we see Him? We see Him "made a little lower..." Why? For Death! Why? Well, that He might bring many sons unto glory, and then relate to them as his brethren, not being ashamed. He's ashamed here (with the old man, at the cross). He was ashamed of his relationship there - He bore the shame, He bore the humility of it and He bore the shame of it. The Bible says He was ashamed of it, but there was a joy set before him. "Father, the Obedient Son will bear the judgment of the disobedient - in ME - in the body that you gave me I will bear the judgment of the death of mankind. In ME, mankind will be summed up and reckoned dead. According to your promise it will go no further than ME, I will obey." And He did. And honey, that's quite a judgment! I keep harping on it, but I know there are so few saints that have really ever faced that judgment - IN HIM! And until you do, you are not ready for what we are calling "the ultimate view of Him". Because that view is to those who look for Him, He shall appear. But there it is without sin, and there it is unto full salvation. And there it is unto full Glory. But honey, I must tell you, I AM NOT FOUND THERE. He is found there. It is this whole thing - HE, yes, revealed in you and I, but it is not you and I being revealed in Him. It is an acknowledgment of judgment and then it is a turning of the heart in a heavenly anticipation; knowing that until He who is our life appears, we will not, because we can not appear. Once you pass in your understanding, in your inner man, once your soul in that inner man, birthed of God for this self same purpose that we are called; once there you pass over the judgment in the view of salvation, once there is a crossing in the soul from death unto life, then there is only that glorious anticipation of His ultimate appearing; knowing that when " He who is our life shall appear, then shall we also appear with him in glory." Now that word doesn't say YOU shall appear also, it says you shall also appear - and there is a tremendous difference between 'you appear also' and 'you also appear'. Because the term "also" there simply or profoundly describes His appearing in you. The word "also" means "to the same degree, to the same measure, as one appearing, interchangeable with another." It does not mean that He appears, and then you appear too. No - He appears and YOU becoming the appearing of Him - IN GLORY! My whole question now is, how many of us are ready to see Him in this appearing? Now, I know that we have dealt with Him in that appearing in that He appeared once in the end of the world (Hebrews 9) - appeared once in the end of the world to put away, to take away. "And as it was appointed unto man once to die, so Christ once died." And that's the view that we've had. And in preaching the cross, that's the view that we've preached, but there's a greater view of the cross than Adam being pronounced dead. There is HIS DEATH which is the true death of the SON OF MAN and it is not dead IN sin, under judgment. His death is a death TO sin. Hallelujah to God, and is without judgment. DEAD TO SIN. Do you understand what He did there? He died TO sin. Whatever your concept of the enemy, the devil, Satan, He (the SON OF MAN) died to him. He died to creation. See in the old creation, here is the whole handiwork of Satan - as a man, as a creation, as an order, as a time - Satan is the god of this world, of the whole thing. Here in the SON OF MAN, here is a MAN who in his body, this whole thing had judgment passed upon it. But the SON OF MAN was exalted as if God said, "Look, the cross only leaves ONE. The cross only lifts up ONE." It was like Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness - they didn't look at the snake and die, my God, they were dying already. They looked at the serpent and they lived! And whosoever will look will live. But it was a brass snake - see, JUDGMENT. And what is judgment? Well it is the dividing asunder of the living from the dead. And if you look you will live, and if you don't look you will reside among the dead. Why did Jesus reach over (John 3) and get that little obscure thing? You read back in your Bible, it doesn't take but a verse or two, almost insignificant, and yet, tremendously significant when the Lord brings it right over into His death. He says, "just like Moses exalted that serpent..." You see it came to me one time that Moses didn't grab a dead snake and hang him on the cross. The Lord spoke to me and said, "Who is it you see when you look at the cross?" I said "Adam, Adam is dead, Lord." I declared that forever. Yes, that's true, but who is it you see when you look at the cross? And I have been going through this - God has erased my blackboard. If you only see Adam dead you haven't seen the cross yet! I realized that Moses did not take a dead snake and put it on that pole - it was an altogether different snake. God didn't take a dead snake either. Why did he pull that little illustration out? Because most of us do not understand the true death of the cross. Most of the Church doesn't even understand the judgment of it - against Adam. Most believers have not come to that yet. How many have come to the realization of HIS DEATH, because Paul only unites you with HIS DEATH - if you're baptized into Him - "As many of us as were baptized into Christ were baptized into HIS DEATH?" That's got to be a different death. "Buried with Him, that like as Christ was raised up, we should walk in newness of life." That's got to be something different. "Knowing this, that the old man is dead..." Then it goes on, bearing this judgment - yes. And then who are these "dead" that hear the voice of the Son of God and come forth in the last day? Certainly not the old man. Who was Lazarus a type of, when Jesus said, "This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God that the Son of God be glorified?" He hears a voice and he was dead. And yet Jesus said, "He's just asleep" and Jesus said the thing is not unto death - but Lazarus died! What is He talking about? All of a sudden I saw the end of the cross is not death and destruction, the end of the cross is ONE MAN REMAINING, HIGH AND LIFTED UP! My God, you talk about judgment coming into your heart - And if you look at Him - You will live. And we're going to look at Him! Ezekiel saw Him, Isaiah saw Him - it's this ONE that the forerunner, our forerunner, which is Christ, brought this one forth, and He brought him forth in His Death, and in His Burial and in His Resurrection. This ONE is here - John saw Him - standing in the midst of the Church. When John wanted to know who He was, who did He say He was? THE FIRST AND THE LAST - THE FIRST AND THE LAST OF THIS NEW CREATION - it's an order of time being spoken of, dealing with a new age. "I'M THE FIRST AND THE LAST!" Who are you? "I AM HE THAT LIVETH, WAS DEAD, BUT I'M ALIVE FOREVERMORE." This MAN is the ONE who comes through His Death, His Burial, His Resurrection. That is the only way this Man can get there. This New Creation Man wasn't translated off the earth, this Man got off the earth through death, burial and resurrection - that's the way he got off the earth, that's the way he got out of the world, and that's the only way you can get out of the world. And that's the acknowledgment of Truth that must come into our hearts before we're ready for the ultimate view of Him. The view of Him - not the view of Adam - I'm not talking about him at all. I'm talking about you and I coming to view ourselves in His Death, His Burial, His Resurrection. For thirty years I preached that view - of His Death, His Burial, His Resurrection - it has nothing to do with Adam. I realize many times we got it confused with Adam, at least I did, but it has nothing to do with Adam. It had to do with a people coming to realize themselves - DEAD TO SIN - it doesn't mean "sin dead", it means I AM DEAD TO SIN. Paul says, "I glory in the cross whereby I am crucified to the world and the world is crucified to me." See that hasn't got anything to do with Adam. That has to do with you who have been baptized into Christ - when you were baptized into Him you were baptized into His Death. His is a death UNTO - Read Romans 6. "In that He died unto sin, He died once. In that He liveth unto God... Likewise reckon ye yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin and alive to God through Jesus Christ." It's a totally different understanding. See, you are either DEAD IN SIN - dead, part of a creation that is dead and gone and not even recognized of God, or you're DEAD IN CHRIST TO SIN. Whether you've come to recognize it or not is the issue we're dealing with because Paul's question here is don't you know? "Know ye not, that as many of us ... dead to..." So here is a Man who is alive and dead - dead and alive! Here is a Man that the Lamb of God as though He were slain can raise right up in the middle of and give full testimony. Hallelujah - because He is dead to one world and alive only to the other! Sweetheart, if you're dead to a thing it has no place in you, it can find no place in you. If you are just disgusted with it or tired of it - well... want to do better than it - well ... But if you're dead to it, I mean if in your heart of hearts you are dead to it, it has no place in you. This is a hard view, but most of the Church has not yet come to that view. And heaven is bringing in a greater view. Oh, DEAD to the thing, buried, and come forth where only ONE lives and He says, "I am the Resurrection. I am the Life." See the SON OF MAN comes forth by the Resurrection and in the Resurrection and understands who He is and where He came from. I AM HE THAT LIVETH - Oh, He bears that Name. I WAS DEAD. I AM ALIVE FOREVERMORE. My God, what a glorious view of Christ. What a glorious view of Him. So judgment passed upon man, and yet the SON OF MAN was exalted up out of the earth. He says it again here in John 12, "Now is the judgment of this world. Now the prince of this world is cast out." Well, yes, because there's no ground there, no ground left for him here - in the New Creation. It only has to be that I gave him ground in my heart through stupidity, but he has no rightful ground there. The knowing of Truth shall - it is as simple as "Resist... and he shall flee..." for the truth is the enemy has no rightful ground there. Because this Man - the SON OF MAN - the New Creation in Christ did not come forth out of disobedience as the old creation did and give him ground. This One is only here because of obedience. Not only obedience unto death bearing that whole thing unto the final judgment of God but even the death of the cross whereby He died TO it all. And was able to say, "Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit." For you will not suffer your Holy One to see corruption. This sickness is not unto death, it's unto the Glory of God that the SON OF GOD may be glorified. I mean He went in there saying give me three days and I'll build it again. Glory to God! No ifs, ands, buts, maybes about it - bringing forth a New Creation in absolute obedience. ONE that is totally alien from the first. What I'm saying is there are these two views of Him. One view associating us with the true death of the cross - which is me dying to sin - TO, TO, TO - but being alive to God through HIM, by HIM, in HIM, of HIM. And then there is that view of Him in Glory - that actually transforms into His same image - this view is the coming of the SON OF MAN. His coming is as light, lightning. Now that coming is going to be manifested but His coming is as light. He comes and His coming is in His own and it is as light. We want to look at the SON OF MAN - here is our relationship with Him. This is where we relate, because though it is He only, it is not He alone - it is HE GLORIFIED! And the only thing that keeps you from seeing that Glory is if the veil of flesh is still on your heart - if you're still looking at the wrong man. Now you don't just call one the other and make it so - no - that veil that is done away, has to be in your heart truly taken away. And it is taken away with all the violence of the cross, and in all the judgment that the SON OF MAN himself brought upon it. But after that, you are at a glorious liberty and that liberty is to see Him in His Glory! That you may behold the Glory of the Lord and be changed into that same image. See for so often we have reckoned the death of Adam with that scripture, but it has nothing to do with that. If you are still wrestling with that, there isn't any transformation taking place. There is still the working of a judgment that we are resisting - and most are. But when we quit resisting the judgment and allow the judgment to take place and find ourselves dead TO, then we can hear His voice and we can live. "I will raise them up the last day." - COME FORTH. What a glorious view awaits those who will turn their hearts to see Him. Never a view like this has presented itself on so grand a scale. While I'll have to admit there are pioneers in every age who pressed through and got glimpses, we're talking about a revealing that shakes heaven and earth and brings HIM forth in glorious manifestation. And that view is coming forth in the heavens to those who have passed from death unto life! SON OF MAN by J W LUMAN - LESSON 2 Let's turn to Matthew 19. We mentioned in our last lesson this term "regeneration" as dividing the old generation from the new generation. There is actually only two places in the New Testament where the Greek word used is translated "regeneration". That is in Matthew 19 and Titus 3:5. The Greek word is 'paliggenesia' and it means "recovery, renovation, it involves the idea of not only new birth stressing spiritual life, but it involves the thought of the inception of a new state of things in contrast to the old state of things. It refers to recovery in the sense of an absolute renovation". And that's where we come up with the term "new heaven and new earth" - qualitatively new, renewed. It also has to do with the term "restoration" of all things. Matthew 19:28 - "Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you that you which have followed me (and in the original it has "all who do follow me") in the regeneration, (that is in the restoration of all things) when the SON OF MAN shall sit on the throne of his glory, you also shall sit upon twelve thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel." What we are interested in now is this term "regeneration" - or the restoration of all things when the SON OF MAN shall sit in the throne of his glory. And I want to make the statement that regeneration, a new generation, is summed up in this ONE MAN. There is a whole generation summed up in Him. And in Him all things are recovered - everything that is lost is found, not only recovered, but recovered in the fullest sense of that term which means "renewed". An absolute renewal takes place so that while the old heaven and the old earth are lost to us, a new heaven and a new earth - a new concept, a new understanding of heaven and earth are found in Him. And it's that understanding that we are going to deal with now - this concept of what regeneration is all about and who is the center and summation of it - who is the definition of it - in whom is it all accomplished. In looking at this let's turn to Acts 3:19 - "Repent ye therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord." Now Peter is just bringing an Old Testament passage into view here. "And he shall send Jesus Christ which was before preached unto you, whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things..." The term "restitution of all things" relates to the recovery, the renovation, the restoration and relates to the term "regeneration". "And he shall send Jesus Christ which was before preached unto you, whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things which God has spoken by the mouth of all of his holy prophets since the world began." And what that is referring to is the restitution of all things which restitution has been spoken of by all of the prophets. It simply means that throughout Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel there is a tremendous restoration that is spoken of - the restoration of Israel, the recovery of Israel, of all that the canker worm has eaten - it's one continual restoration throughout the Bible, one total recovery program that has been spoken of. And Peter is simply bringing this into view and he is saying here is the ONE in whom all of this is to be recovered and that in the recovery of all things, in the restitution of all things, He shall sit, He shall place His throne. His throne shall be the center of such a creation, of such a generation. And Jesus in Matthew 19 is simply saying that you who follow me, when all things are recovered, and I am in the center of all things, when you see the SON OF MAN, when you shall come to see Him sitting in His throne of glory, you come to realize that all things are recovered in Him. Then you will become administrators of that government, and you will exercise His authority. Now that's basically what this verse is saying. So what we are seeing now unfolded in the heavens in this view that we are talking about is just that. We are seeing, coming to see, coming to realize all things recovered in Him. In other words we are finding everything in Him and this is the truth of regeneration - finding all things recovered - coming to that understanding; coming to view the restoration in Him; coming to view the regeneration in Him; coming to find all things recovered but recovered in the full sense that means renovated, or all things made NEW. Hallelujah! ALL THINGS MADE NEW IN HIM! Let's turn to Romans 8, verse 18 - "For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the GLORY..." Now we're speaking of the SON OF MAN coming to be seated in the throne of his glory. "...not worthy to be compared with the GLORY which shall be revealed in us..." Now we're not going to deal with the rest of this. It deals with the earnest expectation of the creature that waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God. "But the glory which shall be revealed in us" is what we're looking at. Verse 25 - "But if we hope for that which we see not, then we do with patience wait for it." Now the word "hope" here is properly translated "expectation". If that glory is our expectation - if that's the thing we are expecting, then we do with patience wait for it. Now "patience" is a big term but simply means "the ability to in all things wait on the coming of the Lord." The perfect work of patience is the coming of the Lord - until the Lord comes. If you have exercised patience in prayer, then you have prayed until the Lord has come, or appeared in a matter. Most of us just pray until 'we get through'. Or we set us a little program of praying for 15 minutes every morning, or an hour a day or 5 hours a day or 5 times a week - No - in all things, if our expectation is this glory which shall be revealed in us, and the glory which shall be revealed in us is very simply seeing all things fully recovered in Him, in the regeneration; in the recovery of all things, you and I coming to see all things fully restored in Him; that glory which shall be revealed in us - the restoration of all things - then we do with patience wait for it. The Holy Spirit, verse 26, enters into this and begins to direct our whole mind and prayer life and spirit toward this. And in verse 28, there comes a great assurance into the hearts of those who have their mind set for such a glory. They come to understand that all things are working together toward that end. To them who are called according to his purpose and his purpose is realized in His Son! And what is his purpose? HIS PURPOSE IS THE BRINGING BACK IN CHRIST AS THE SON OF MAN EVERYTHING THAT WAS LOST. Jesus says it is the ministry of the SON OF MAN; it is the ministry of the SON OF MAN to save that which was lost. I come for the full recovery of what was lost. Well, what was lost? A Man was lost! A Man representing the creation of God was lost. What is found? A MAN is found! A Man - SON OF MAN - see, it's a New Man. Here's where you and I relate. It's very difficult for me or you to relate to the SON OF GOD as the SON OF GOD - the I AM THAT I AM - the One who is the SON OF GOD whether I even exist or not, the One who was the SON OF GOD before I existed - the Eternal Word in the beginning. It's hard for us to relate to Him. So what did He do? Well, He took on Himself the form of a Man and He related to us! That by His Death, His Burial, His Resurrection WE may be able to relate to Him. Now in the midst of all that, God's promise for the Adamic creation was justified and executed. But the death of the SON OF MAN had far more to do than just seal the judgment of one creation - the old creation. The death of the SON OF MAN was purposed exclusively to bring forth a New Creation! Those who would come out from the old and into the new through His Death, His Burial and His Resurrection. Finding themselves to be in Christ dead to sin, buried to creation, raised up in One and raised up where only One lives - in His Resurrection. And it's God's full intention that in this Man - the New Man - the SON OF MAN - this Man that is not created of dirt, this Man that cometh by death, burial and resurrection, that the full expectation of God is set - upon this Man. The full purpose - those that are called according to his purpose - his purpose is a full recovery program in this Man - that this Man stand for everything that pleases God. And you have to understand that no man other than this Man can possibly please God. What I'm telling you is that only that Creation, only that Man who comes by death, burial and resurrection can possibly please God; can possibly be brought unto glory. Nothing that is not resurrected can be brought to glory! What is glory? Glory is ONENESS WITH God. Glory is UNITY WITH GOD. John 17 - Jesus says what glory is. He left glory so He knows what it is. But He left glory that He might bring many sons unto glory. He died, yes on the one hand to seal Adam's doom, but on the other hand to bring many sons unto glory - as the SON OF MAN. As the SON OF MAN He brings forth the SON OF MAN. As the SON OF MAN He brings forth a new mankind. My literal translation called Him the "SON OF MANKIND." But it's a new kind of Man. It's a fully recovered Man. At one Bible conference I dealt with that New Creation Man fully forgiven, fully restored and fully reconciled unto God through death, through burial, through resurrection - that's the only way that it can be done. What I want you to get a hold of - there is only one thought in all of my words - you must understand that this is the ONLY MAN that pleases God. I mentioned that as Jesus, the forerunner, comes up out of Jordan, it is there that He is first recognized as SON OF MAN. God says, "This is the Son that pleases Me." He is not declaring Him there as SON OF GOD as such, but as the SON OF MAN - as that One that heaven is opened to reveal; the One that comes up out of the Jordan; the One with whom we are associated through His Death, Burial , Resurrection; and the One who must be revealed of the Father. And then again on the Mount of Transfiguration representing the time of His Glory, of the restoration of all things, everything of His Glory - there He is. And once again in that setting - in the first setting all righteousness is fulfilled and summed up in Him. But in the second setting, everything that Elijah and Moses stand for is summed up in Him and everything that Peter, James and John stand for are summed up in Him. He is seen in GLORY and again the heavens are opened and the Father declares, "This is my Son." But the words then are "Hear ye Him - Hear Him." This is the only Man that pleases God, so what I'm trying to tell you is there is no way, as Adam; there is no way as to this first generation that you and I can possibly please God. It doesn't make any difference what I do or what I don't do - it really doesn't - except we come by His Death, Burial and Resurrection. The good news is that YOU HAVE COME by such a work. You have come by His Death. "Know ye not..." That's the whole message of Paul - do you not understand? That as many as are baptized ... see, you have come by that. Well, we who have come forth in Him, then must come to the acknowledgment, we must come to the regeneration. Let's bring Titus the third chapter in, verse 5. "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Ghost which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs, according to the expectation (the hope) of eternal life." Well the expectation of eternal life is the same thing that we're talking about in Romans - it is just this - we are saved, we are brought forth in Him for a glorious purpose and in a glorious expectation. And that expectation is just this - that we would come in seeing Him and knowing Him - that we would come to realize the recovery of all things in Christ. That we would come to find IN HIM all things lost. That we would grow up into Him who is the Head. We've said that many times, but the thing that we're saying about this is that regeneration, New Creation, the recovery - all of this back to Romans 8 - is to be FOUND and is to be REALIZED by you and I who are in Him, in the fulness of HIM. Look at verse 29, "For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He (that Son) might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom He did predestinate..." (those who He did foreknow. Who did He foreknow? Those who are in Christ!) What is His predestinated purpose with regard to those that are in Christ? His predestinated purpose for those that are in Christ is that they should be conformed to the image of His Son! Now that's part of the regeneration; that's part of the washing of regeneration. There's two powers at work here - one is the Word of Truth, one is the Spirit of Truth. We are washed by the Word of Truth through the exercise of the Spirit of Truth. And the washing is of the very Spirit of our mind. So the whole work of regeneration is you and I coming to see all things recovered in Christ. The whole work of regeneration is God bringing us into the view of His Son that He has. God seeing all things recovered in the Son, even you and I recovered, then through the washing of regeneration, through the Word of Truth and the Spirit of Truth combining, renewing our mind, opening the eyes of our understanding, the whole purpose is then God bringing us to see THIS MAN the way he sees Him. The first thing we come to see is our union with This Man. And that it is only in, of, through and as This Man that we are accepted of God. "Those that he did predestinate he called, he justified and he glorified." He's not going to call - he's called. Paul says "ye see your calling brethren." He justified, by the working of the cross. He glorified. Now this expectation that Paul says is that our whole expectation is set on this glory being revealed in us, when most of the Church's expectation is flying off somewhere - going to a better land. Paul says our expectation is set for this glory to be revealed - our whole expectation is here - IN HIM! "We reckon the sufferings of this present time not worthy to be compared with the glory that shall be revealed in us". Well, what is that GLORY? In John 17 - now we just read here that He might be the firstborn so let's see who is this SON OF MAN. He is the firstborn. He is the firstborn of many. He is the firstborn of many not other than Himself, but of Himself. Colossians tells us the same thing. Colossians 1:18 - "He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from among the dead, that in all things He might have the preeminence." The firstborn. Where did This Man come from? Now when I say "This Man" I'm not talking about someone other than you, but I'm talking about YOU in another way. I'm talking about YOU as you are in HIM. I'm talking about YOU. The ultimate view, the second view that we must come to - we who have come to a view of His involvement with us, must now come to a view of our involvement with Him. We who have come to a view of death, must now come to a view of life. And yet, the view of life is where only ONE lives, so there is still there the marks of His dying. We always will bear the mark of His dying, but it's time we come to the view of His living! - of His life. We must find our association not only in His Death, but in His Life! This is the greater view. This is the ultimate view. This is the view of glory. And it is a view only open to those who have found themselves associated with Him in His Death, His Burial and His Resurrection. But if you have suffered with Him - with death, burial and resurrection - those three days are all involved in the cross, then you shall be glorified. The Bible says if you suffer with Him, you'll be glorified with Him. This means follow Him in His sufferings; then you'll be found in His glory. Jesus says, "They that follow me, in the regeneration, in the restoration of all things, when the SON OF MAN is seated in His throne (is in full authority), then you will become administrators of that authority." So again, this whole business of you and I in Christ, the whole working of the regeneration is actually one of the renewing of the mind. It is a work of the Word of Truth, the washing of the water of the Word, the washing of the water of regeneration; it is a working of the Word of Truth and the Spirit of Truth - the Holy Spirit. It is a renewing of the mind bringing us to see as God sees - bringing us to identify with Christ here in the heavens - to identify with Him in His glory. Now what is that glory? Again, John 17 - He says, "Father, glorify thou me with the glory that I had with you before the world was." What glory? Well He says "glorify me with Thyself - with thine own self" He goes on - the reason for this being that "I may be glorified in those thou hast given me." Then He goes on and says, verse 21, "That they may all be one, even as thou, Father art in me, and I in thee. That they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that thou hast sent me." SUCH A GLORY! How significant it is of the ways of the enemy, the religious ways of the enemy to where it has almost totally been wiped out of the doctrine of Christianity, such a glory. And has been substituted for something like Disneyland off behind some planet and our whole of Christianity is that one day we're going to get to go there and set down and talk with Grandma forever, and fulfill all of my earthly lusts because though I'm poor and penniless here, man, there I will have streets made of pure gold. And we fail to understand that it speaks of the purifying of our faith and the walk thereby. But our whole attention has been diverted from a present reality to a future fantasy. But when He, THE SON OF MAN appears, it all changes, and I'm telling you we have come to the hour, to the day, to the time, to the moment of HIS APPEARING! Hallelujah! Heaven is ready for it. Earth is ready for it. Everything is ready for it. I'm not saying expecting it - I'm saying ready for it. It's come to that. The Scriptures have all been fulfilled up to that. It's coming. That coming is not as most expect. Matthew and Luke tell us that that coming - the coming of the SON OF MAN is as lightning, it is as light - it shineth. His coming is first, although I have no doubt His coming will have its manifestation in the earth, His coming is in heaven. His coming is as lightning that shineth and it doesn't say it's as lightning that strikes the earth. I was watching the news the other night, the weather and this weather man asked what is the most frequent kind of lightning? Is it cloud-to-cloud, cloud-to-earth or earth-to-cloud? Well, it's cloud-to- cloud - it's that lightning that never touches the earth. This is what the Bible refers to as "the coming" and I'm telling you that the word "coming" there as in Matthew is translated as "the presencing" - so shall be the presence of the SON OF MAN. It is in heaven - and it is as light. And the whole heaven lights up - it's tremendous - as lightning that shineth from one part of heaven to the other part of heaven is what the Bible says. And then the "sign" of His coming shall appear - in Heaven. And then He shall come in clouds of heaven. The coming of the SON OF MAN that we read about is in Heaven. He is coming to be seen by those who look for Him. "LIFT UP YOUR EYES, YOUR REDEMPTION DRAWETH NIGH." It's already complete, but draweth nigh. Lift up your eyes, your regeneration is upon you. Lift up your eyes, you're about to see the SON OF MAN setting in His Glory and you're about to become administrators of that glory. Hallelujah! Everything. He's the firstborn of this thing. He's the first of it and the last of it, He is the only begotten of it. Yes, He is the only begotten of the Father. He is the Father's Own Son! Think about that folks. Because you're coming to see your union with Him, but in doing that, you're going to see everything that here (in the old creation, in Adam) is lost, you're going to see it all here (in Christ, in the New Creation) - found. But before you can ever see it found, it must eternally be lost to you. For you're not going to find "your" life here in Christ, but HIS LIFE IN YOU, here. You're not going to find anything here in Christ, but a new earth, a new heaven, a New Creation. Everything that was lost is fully restored. This business of "all things". That's what we want to look at. Now there have been those that have looked into this matter and have come away seeing themselves. They have never seen this most excellent Man there. They've simply taken His Name, and applied it to themselves. And they have simply taken all that He stands for and applied it to themselves. And it's because they have not come by His Death, His Burial, His Resurrection - they've preached it, but they haven't come by it. They have never in their inner man truly experienced themselves DEAD - absolutely dead. So they have never really known the joy of "NOT I, BUT CHRIST!" they've never really known the joy of Resurrection. They've never really known the joy that it's not me, it's HIM! They've never really known that joy - and they're preaching and they're teaching, and their testimonies will betray that fact. Because they've always got themselves in the picture. I don't care how beautiful the picture is, sooner or later it has the ugly stink of flesh about it - sooner or later it will have the mark of the beast appear on it. I know what I'm talking about. Matthew 23 is full of this - warning, warning, warning and Matthew 24 - of 'abomination of desolation' which simply means right before the SON OF MAN appears in heaven, appears in His own Holy Sanctuary, right before that the abomination of desolation is going to appear and try to take His place. Just before the great and glorious unveiling of the ultimate view of Christ as SON OF MAN, the abomination of desolation, the ugliness of man trying to be God. And it's got to be a religious thing because he's appearing in the house of God - the temple of God. And he appears with a voice and with power and authority so much so that if this time were not shortened by the Lord Himself, if this time were not shortened, that even the very elect, the Bible says, would be deceived. Now that shows you the power of the perversion of Truth. There is no power in something that is just utterly not true, but to take a truth and pervert it, there's much power in that. And great tribulation of those days speak of a time that we are coming into, where it is said "Here is Christ" or There is Christ" or "Over there is Christ" and that's when it says, "But be not deceived, because His coming is as lightning in the heavens..." His coming is in the heavens, and to those that have their heart turned to see Him. What I'm saying is that everything, all things are recovered, and the whole work of regeneration is you and I coming to find all things recovered IN HIM. There are those who would take this term "all things" and apply them to this old creation over here. And they say "all", the Bible says "all things". Yes - the Bible says "all things" with reference to all things IN CHRIST, because that's where God recognizes "all things". So we take the term 'forgiveness', 'restoration', 'reconciliation' and bring it outside of Christ and you get in trouble with it. Because you have them saying God is going to reconcile all things - NO - he already has. You get off on dangerous doctrines there, doctrines of hell, I call them. I want to tell you something. Anything that is not already reconciled by the blood of Christ is never going to be. What I'm telling you is there isn't any other way. There isn't any other way to come except the way you and I have come because that is the only way He's provided - there isn't any other way. Everything He's already reconciled - He's already reconciled all mankind - and it's right here - IN HIS SON. This is the only Man - His Man - This is His Man, fully reconciled, fully recovered, fully forgiven. You are either part of That Man, or you don't exist. God is fully satisfied with that - it's done! You and I, when we come to the view of it - when will we become ministers of reconciliation? When we come to understand that every man who is in Christ is a NEW CREATION, old things are done away, behold all things are made NEW. Where? IN CHRIST JESUS! Who has given to us this word of reconciliation. There isn't any other word of reconciliation except declaring all things recovered in Christ. All things recovered, you see all things that were lost in a man are all recovered in a Man. But it's not recovered as it was lost, it's much more. The one fell short of glory, the other is in GLORY - the other IS GLORY! The one fell in disobedience, this whole creation was brought forth by the obedience of One. "Obedient unto death, even the death of the cross." Whereby we have become part by His Death, His Burial, His Resurrection - that we may come to know Him in His Glory. That the glory may be revealed. We are here for a purpose of glory! We are here to behold Him in His Glory! That the whole earth may be filled with the knowledge of that glory, by the administration of that glory. ALL THINGS ARE FULLY RECOVERED IN THIS MAN. Until you and I come to see that, until there is a renewing of our minds through the washing of regeneration, the renewing of the Holy Spirit; when we come to see Him seated in His throne, in His Authority in glory; until we come to the acknowledgment of the Truth as it is in Christ. And that's what the present move of the Holy Spirit is all about saints, it's all about the coming of the SON OF MAN . It's all about His appearing. It's about us coming to find all things fully restored and recovered in Him. "Beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, we shall be changed from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord." See, here is one mirror, glass, and over here is another. You and I are continually beholding ourselves in the wrong mirror. We are looking at each other and we are comparing ourselves among ourselves. I look at humanity and I call myself a human. And I say I'm doing just as well as so-and-so. There's my mirror (in the flesh, of the old creation), but there is a greater mirror. Ezekiel calls it the 'marah' of God - the VISION OF GOD. In the book of Ezekiel the first chapter describes that marah as a Man - a Man most glorious, a Man who is the summation of a New Creation, a Man who is seated upon and in the throne - a throne dweller, and he describes that Man as the APPEARANCE OF THE GLORY OF GOD. And we know that the word 'marah' means not only the act of seeing, but the appearing of the thing seen - the appearing of the one seen. Where does He appear? HE APPEARS IN YOU! When? WHEN YOU SEE HIM! It's all the same - the opening of the eyes of our understanding; the glory of God being revealed in us; when He who is our life shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. We look into this mirror - we see HIM - but not only the act of seeing, but there is the appearing of the One that we see. We look into this mirror and we become what we see. We look into this mirror and we become the appearing of the One we see. Beholding as in the mirror, as in the glass. But who is it that we are seeing here? It's the whole thing. Who is it? In Whom? Who are we seeing? We are seeing HIM. Who is He? He is the SON OF MAN in this coming. HE IS THE SON OF MAN. And in Him all things are fully recovered. And they are only fully recovered in Him. You can't try to take forgiveness, reconciliation, restoration outside of Him - it won't work. It's got to be embraced IN HIM. Let our hearts turn to see that all things ARE recovered in Him and look for His appearing - THE SON OF MAN. SON OF MAN - BY J W LUMAN - LESSON 3 The only man God indwells is that Man that is brought forth in the death, burial and the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, making Him the Cornerstone - the thing, the one, the person upon which and up in which everything else is building. Paul just referring to that in Ephesians 2 says "Ye are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself, being the chief cornerstone, IN WHOM, all the building fitly framed together groweth into a holy temple in the Lord. IN WHOM ye are also builded for a habitation of God through the Spirit." Not only upon whom, but in whom. Hallelujah! The cornerstone therefore becoming the stone of the building. I mean not only built upon Him, but built up in Him - in whom ye are builded for a habitation of God. We have been dealing with a most glorious view of Him and it is actually the view to which all the Church, all that is in Him, must come. It is the coming view of Him. And in dealing with that view, we've been dealing with the view of Him in GLORY. You who follow me, He says, in the regeneration, in the recovery of all things, when the SON OF MAN is set down in His throne of glory - well, that's the view we've been looking at. The view of Him in His glory. It is the view of the Ark of the Covenant. The view of the SON OF MAN set down in His glory - in His throne, in His glory - a complete enthronement, all things being subject to Him. And then we have the term "in His glory", and it is this term "in His glory" that enables us to understand who this SON OF MAN is. HE IS THE ONE GATHERED UP IN GLORY. As we come to view such a one, we have to understand that though such a one is not us, we are swallowed up, summed up and only find our being in such a one - becoming the very Body of such a one, becoming the very being of such a one. Yes, all of those things are true - and yet it is HE. It is forever He revealed in me. Never is it me revealed in Him. That's always the way it has to be. Folks, it can never come to the fact that you and I are Christ. It can never come to the fact that this place where we meet - this is Christ - it can never come to that. A manifestation of Christ - yes - all of that, a place where He is made manifest, a place where He is sought after, a place where we have gathered to see none but Him - all of that is true. And that will really determine who gathers with you. I see these gatherings established - you are part of gatherings established throughout this country and around the world are being established and are being joined together in the gloriousness of His appearing. But to call any one such gathering "HIM" is not ... it must never come to that. Or for you and I to substitute ourselves for Him. But here's the point, if you walk in the knowledge of Him, you can't do that anyway. Because you're always realizing that the one we are seeing, though we are absolutely gathered up in that one, that one is not ever gathered up in me. I AM GATHERED UP IN HIM. I am gathered up in Him and there's always more of Him to see. But there does come and is coming a time in the heavens where this glorious person in whom we have our being, Christ Himself, must come into full focus so that you and I come to find our whole being in Him - come to find our whole identity in Him - come to find the fulness of redemption in Him. There must come in our hearts that you can call nothing on this earth Christ, and yet He must be made manifest in this earth. But you will never be able to point to anything on the earth and say, "That's Christ." And yet He must have manifestation in the earth. And there's a fine line, see, a fine line, between calling something on earth Christ and recognizing a manifestation of Christ in the earth because there must be a manifestation of Him in the earth. But it will be IN A PEOPLE who realize that they are not Him, but a manifestation of Him. And that's about as good as I can explain it to you. Because there is a line there that defies natural understanding - a line, a veil, through which only the Holy Spirit can take you - and establish you in an understanding that it is not I, but Christ. And that I am never calling that which is me, Him. But yet I have no purpose except the manifesting of Him. So there must at some time come into the earth, a very visible manifestation of Him in those who are seeing, knowing, only Him. That must be so. But it will always be with them, "NOT I, BUT CHRIST." But I'll tell you this too, folks, and I must confess to you that it's becoming more and more this way with me, it can't be with those folks, anything BUT CHRIST. There's no way I can emphasize that without sounding harsh and hard, and I'm not going to do that. I have some of the most profound and precious fellowship with believers that there is to be found in the universe of God, and yet there are others with whom I have no fellowship at all though I know that they are born again. I know that they are Spirit-filled. I know that they are residents of heaven. I know that, but I have no fellowship with them because with them it is something other than Christ with which they are occupied. And I have wrestled with this. I have agonized with this because the thing in me saying "It is not I, but Christ." is not allowing that I say, "Well I'm Christ and you're not." See that is not the attitude at all. That's not allowed by Him. But I do know that with me it is nothing BUT CHRIST. And I am not in the least bit interested exploring religious matters. I'm just not. I am finding everything that my heart is desiring - I am finding it identified in this New Man - this SON OF MAN - the allness of whom is Christ. Do you know what His name is? His name is CHRIST - ALL AND IN ALL. I don't want to explore anything else of a religious nature. I just don't, and do you know what, my fondest wish is that nobody else would either. My fondest wish is that every eye IN CHRIST, because we're not dealing with a dead generation, darling, we're dealing with a living generation and the coming of the SON OF MAN is too. I mean He shall come suddenly into His own temple for the purifying of the Sons of Levi. I sincerely wish that every born again believer had their eyes focused on the heavens refusing to bat an eyelash until He in His glory appears. Honey, when He appears in His glory He's going to appear IN YOU. And His appearing in glory means that He appears in you in a way that you become aware, divinely aware of your union with HIM, and it becomes an impossibility for you to live as any other but Him! Now that's an appearing! That's an appearing! That won't produce a lot of little Jesuses. No, no, no, but it will produce a manifestation of Him, in His Body, in a number, in a people, who will understand it is nothing but Him. IT IS NOT I, IT IS CHRIST! Hallelujah to God! Now see, I have no heart for anything less than that. I certainly am not in the fulness of that view, but I have no heart for any view less than that. I don't want to see anything less than that. I don't want to talk about anything less. Here I'm sitting in Him at the right hand of God - why do I want to talk about anything else? That is Paul's question to the Colossians. He says, "If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above..." But he identifies those things as the things which are in Christ. and he says, "...set your affections not on things on the earth, for you are dead..." And then he summed it all up and he said, "When He who is our life shall appear..." Oh, My Lord, why should I want to be sitting here (in Christ, in the heavens) and discussing anything less? Rather, I want to spend my time declaring the reality of this union - of this glory. And do you know what? It would thrill my heart if everybody that claims the name of Jesus would turn to hear nothing but that, nothing but that declaration. I personally don't care if anybody listens to me or not; if they'll turn their eyes and see Him, I am perfectly happy. But I have no other view to declare. I have no other salvation. If I did, so help me God I'd be declaring it to you, but I don't have any other salvation to declare. And so oft times, and I've come through those things, and I don't come through them mad at them, that is not in my heart, but I've come through the times of declaring things - I mean good things. You know there's nothing wrong with operating ministries, but you don't make ministries your gospel, and there's nothing wrong with operating gifts, but those are not the things that we press toward to know Him. NO, not at all. And yet, there should be, and we should be at liberty to allow those things to operate, but honey, we don't gather here in this room to operate gifts on each other. Go out there - where they are needed, and operate your gifts. Go out there where it's needed and do some delivering - your next door neighbor, your own household, your children, the people on your job - Jesus did that. But when He collected his disciples together He didn't operate gifts on them, He taught them words of Life. And then He sent them out into the highways . I have no problem with those things, except we make things that shouldn't be obvious ministries the focal point of our gospel and when we do it folks, we quit growing in Him. Now I won't argue with anybody about that, but I've come through that. I have no intention of going back to it. And yet, to be able to minister Christ into the life of a person out here, and to do that - but we are of the mentality that you go to church and do that. And then, when we get out here, you just act like the rest of them. But we are holy in the church - Bless God! We had fifteen messages in tongues. Now you are talking to one who has spoken in tongues since he was five years old, so don't frown at me. And who speaks in tongues every day of the year still, and enjoys it. But I've come to find, and I have in God's dealing with Israel, found all of those elements, but none of them constituted the END. I found those mountains. I found those administrations - none of them constituted the end. The end was found only in the glory of God filling His house, and no man could minister. And this was the result of that ministry of the SON OF MAN. Solomon himself, who brought that house together in all of its glory, and I'm telling you honey, My God, for you who want to see Him, and I know I'm not talking to anybody who doesn't want to see Him - I know that so I've already given up on it - I really have. I know that there is no reason for anybody to listen to me at all except they want to see the view that I am declaring. But I tell you I WANT TO SEE HIM IN HIS GLORY. And to me that means something, and I'm trying to stress to you what that means to me. To me that means seeing everything that I am, it means seeing all things gathered up in Him. It means seeing myself gathered up in Him. It means John 17 to me. It means you and I coming into the realization of full salvation, and my God, if we ever do that, and to the degree that we do that, we will be a light unto the nations. We will be a light unto the world. We won't try to get them all in the church. The Church will be amongst them and a light amongst them, and a city amongst them. See, I'm talking about Christ operating in our daily life - our manner of life becoming Him. Come on, the Lord Jesus, he didn't get up and go to church, but he did pull his disciples together from time to time and oft times and daily even, and minister to them. There's nothing wrong with our gathering, but this idea of 'Let's all go to church', come on now, I don't find that in Him. I find that He is becoming a daily manner of life, and I'm telling you again, I don't have anything wrong with the administration of any gift, but it's got to be in your daily life. Don't blame it on somebody else because it's not happening, go demonstrate Him. Well, I don't see any gifts of the Spirit. Well, why aren't you manifesting them? What did you do yesterday? This thing has got to get out of four walls and quit becoming a doctrine and become a manner of life - administered through a people who have seen their union with Him. I'm going to tell you right now that by the time the year 2000 gets here, and don't start engraving this in concrete on me, but I mean in the next few years, I sense it in my spirit, you're not going to recognize the real Church by any form or any structure that we now honor and obey. God help us, you're not. I talk to ministers about this all the time. I'm in continual conversation with the ministry and the Lord's Body - all of whom are walking in this view. And my greatest concern is for the Church. There is nothing on the face of God's earth that I love more than the Church - nothing. The Church is on earth. Why do I love it? Because it is that visible expression, it is bone of His bone. And yet I look at most that are in the Church and I grieve, because they are still operating in a structure - the structure is everything to them. And I don't mean just a building - the structure is everything to them. Just like our traditional idea of Jesus in his robe, with his blonde hair, etc. - we can't turn that form loose. And yet, when Mary tried to hold him, his whole speech to her was really, you know, "Touch me not. I haven't gone to my Father." He is saying, ' Do not seek to retain me in this present form." Oh, the Church is never going to pass away. Don't you worry about that. The Church is His Body. But the structure of it, the form of it that we now know, is not going to serve the revelation of Him that is coming forth in the heavens. It's not going to serve it any more than the Holy Place could serve the glory of God. The Holy Place could not retain Him. Sometime back - you know it takes the Lord three or four years to tell me something, I'm not lying to you. Sometime back three or four years ago, the Lord began to deal with me in a definition of the Church. You remember we defined the Church in the heaven - the Body - and that the Church is just not where people get in a building but it is a true manifestation of a reality. But in the midst of the Lord dealing with me - because I was crying out one day - "God, why are they not hearing this? Why will they not hear? Lord, why don't most of your own want to hear - they don't even want to hear." And I realized because they were so deluded, so put to sleep, so deluded by the poison of carnality - we've got heaven in a fixed place at a fixed time looking in a certain way. And we're not even worried about it. 'When I die, I'll go there. Until then I'll just ask Jesus to forgive me, and maybe I can get in a good prayer just before my last breath, then I'll go to heaven.' My God, no wonder no one is pressing in toward the vision of the Lord. And then the concept, 'we're okay. I go to church every Sunday'. See - go to church - that whole concept is totally wrong in heaven. There isn't any place to go every Sunday. There's a gathering. Do you understand what I'm saying here? Yes, the gathering must be because the gathering is for the manifestation of Him. But the modern concept of 'going to church' - no wonder nobody's hungry - we're lulled. I tell you what, when old Karl Marx said that religion was the opiate of the masses, well, the old boy had it right - put everybody to sleep. He came up with an anti-religion and for a long period of time mobilized a great part of the face of the earth, it's his politics just didn't work. "Oh, Lord, I was crying out, Why don't they hear?" And so the Lord dealt with me as he always does. And he said, "You are trying to get me to appear in the Holy Place, and I won't appear there. I will only appear in the Most Holy Place." And that confused me, but the Lord continued to speak to me. And he said, "Son, you're going right into the structure." And that time I was. I was going to a lot of places, friends. "You're going right into the structure and you're declaring ME in that structure, and you're expecting ME to appear there, and I'm not going to do it." I can't really verbalize this, but he said, "I'm not going to be put on exhibition in the midst of carnality. I'm not going to be a visitor to their Sunday morning service. Son, the whole mentality is going to have to change for me to appear." He said, "You're treating my people as a candelabra and I never appeared in the candelabra, I appeared in the Ark of the Covenant, and when you begin to declare to my people who they are, and that means you'll have to stand against, not in a bad way or anything, but you'll find yourself at odds with, standing against the candelabra structure. Because I'm not going to appear there. You want to go in and you don't want to disturb their little structure. And you want to be received, and you want to be able to preach your little gospel of the Revelation of Christ and you want me to appear there, and I'm not going to do it, because I'm not going to be put on exhibition like some clown." All this was coming to me - the Lord took hours and days. "Lord", I finally had to say, "God you're right." "You are going into a structure and you're calling that my Church and you're telling those people, and you're expecting them to hear me and see me." No, see. And the Lord said, "When you quit treating my people like a candelabra and begin to treat them like the Ark of the Covenant, I'll appear in the midst of the Ark of the Covenant." I knew immediately what I had to do. I knew that God was giving me a whole new definition for the Church. And I knew that you can't put new wine in old wineflasks. I knew He was not going to appear in His glory in a place that could not contain His glory - in a mentality, in a structure that could not contain it. I knew that I was going to have to begin to declare to people, to the saints of God, to the Church, " show the house to the house." I was going to have to start declaring you are not a candelabra, you're the Ark of the Covenant! Hallelujah! I knew that most wanted to maintain their church structure and have Jesus come and visit - and He won't do that, and I had come right into it, and I had left their little church structure alone, because they'd let me come into it two or three times a year and tolerate me for a few days. And I'd go away wondering, God, why can't they see? And the Lord was answering me. "They can't see because I can't appear in that. And as long as that's their mentality, I can't appear in them. You see, they actually see themselves as that structure - that is how they are seeing the Church. That's the mirror they are looking in. That's their concept of who they are. I can't appear in that - because that's not who they are. They are not a candelabra - they are the Ark of the Covenant. You are going to have to declare that." This started years ago but it took some time for it to dawn on me that there was a whole new view of Him coming into the heavens. Well, don't we understand that a new view of Him means a new view of us? My Lord God - WE'RE IN HIM! And a new view of Him means a new view of the Church! Not only is the believer defined there (in Him), but the Church is redefined here. Not only is the Church redefined here (In Him), earth is redefined here. Not only is the earth redefined in Him, heaven is redefined in Him. We have not studied these all out as lessons, but I'm just sharing my heart with you - about what is happening in the heavens so that we don't get confused and start looking for Him in this thing or in that thing, even though it may be lovely and all of that, but it's something less than Him. God in heaven, you can't tell me anything about how it hurts to have to turn away from that. When you in your own heart know I'm not trying to be alienated from anybody, I'm not trying to be the odd duck in this pond, My God, I just want to see YOU! I just want to see you, Lord. And I'll tell you what helped me. God kept me for weeks and months in the book of Ezekiel. Try reading the first three chapters tonight. As a result of that view, look at the next two chapters of him telling Ezekiel, 'You're going to be the odd man out, fella.' You read it. That's why I'm so careful. I do not believe I am the only one who has the gospel, but I do believe that I have the only gospel. But you will never hear me say I'm the only one who has ever seen Christ - no - you can't do that. See, what the Lord is doing throughout the earth - it's not crawling off in a corner and becoming - that's not what it is at all. But the Lord Jesus himself said, "Where there are two or three gathered together in my name..." Honey, that's a heavenly gathering and it's going to be manifested in the earth, because you see I'm not looking for the structure any more, I am looking for a grass roots movement coming up that will MANIFEST HIM! We don't want to crawl off in a corner and be the only ones. That's not what I'm talking about either. But I cannot become part of that which is not looking at Him just so I can become part of something that looks good. Because the point is, here's what I'm a part of - Christ - the Body - the Church- and to me, this looks good. It may look a little ragged in the earth right now. The Lord Jesus looked a little ragged with His ragged twelve, he looked a little ragged. Particularly when he looked around and said, "Everybody else is gone, are you going to go too?" I'm not glorying in number, big or little. I'm just telling you here (in the heavens, in Christ) is where the proof of the pudding is. It's not in the earth. It's not in small or in big. It's in you and I coming to see HIM and the anointing of God that is in you will testify to you whether it's Christ or not. Nobody else will have to tell you that - the anointing that's in you will tell you that! The anointing that's in me tells me that - so much so that I stand for it and I rejoice if somebody else will just stand with me, because I love fellowship. But I will stand - if nobody else does stand with me. Why? Because I'm not standing alone - I'M STANDING IN HIM! Hallelujah to God! And the thrill of it is, you see, He's not alone either. He has many who are standing in Him! and it is through His appearing that He is knitting them together and bringing them together. You look there in Matthew 24 and he's going to release his messengers to gather from the four winds. But again, see, this has nothing to do with gathering up over the earth. Oh, my God, every kind of a substitute you can imagine is going to come, and I've already been in most of them. I'm telling you, so help me God, I've already been in most of them. I've already been in the line of thought of trying to pull it together in the earth. When I was pastoring in Denton, Texas, I saw a great truth in Christ and a great truth in the Body. I called a gathering of all the ministers, and a great number of them came. I made a big declaration, ' I think we all ought to put all of our churches together and we'll have the biggest church here.' So help me God, now, I did it - in Denton, Texas, ' And we'll all be Elders.' I scared all of them and that's the last time they ever wanted to talk to me. They thought I was a raving nut. Well, I wasn't - I saw a good thing, but YOU can't do it. That's the reason why with Covenant Ministries I go out of my way not to try to solicit to put it or pull it together. I discourage ministry that wants to identify in a committed way because I know that if they are being drawn here in the heavens, there is no way you can keep them from committing to some manifestation of HIM in the earth. And if they're not, and you solicit them, it's going to be heartache down the line, because I've already tried that. It would be the easiest thing in the world for me to do, and I have proved this in past activities when I was part of a temporary vehicle, to increase numbers, because there are so many who want to be part of something. And it's so easy to get them to be. And the Lord really dealt with me about that. And the Lord brought me to say almost as what Paul said to Peter, "If you know, you being a Jew, you do not find your answer in the law, why in the world are you trying to get these Gentiles to?" And it was like the Lord saying, "If you know that this is a temporary vehicle, why in the world are you trying to get everybody else to be part of it?" And yet, when Covenant Ministries came about, it came about with no solicitation at all. It came about through requests of brethren from all over the country wanting to meet and get the mind of God with regard to how we could more effectively declare this Word. Well, it continues to this day, and that's wonderful and I praise God for it. It's a tangible vehicle through which I serve the Lord Jesus. But we don't start calling something Christ that in fact is a ministry and a manifestation of Christ. And only that as long as we keep our eyes here - IN HIM! Here then, in Him, is where I'm finding my fellowship with those who are wanting to be caught up in the same glorious view of Him. And it is a concern of ministry in which they'll say, 'I want to have fellowship. My heart is to have fellowship, but I'm finding myself unable to have fellowship in these matters'. And I know what they're saying. I feel for them and I just try to reach out and embrace them more and more. And I keep telling them just take heart, because the Lord in His appearing is raising up a glorious appearing of Himself and He will soon release His messengers, Thank God. But here's my point, you'll notice that those messengers are gathering the elect from the four winds of the heavens. Notice it's a heavenly gathering. Now it will be manifested in the earth, but notice it is a heavenly gathering. In other words, it's being done in this unseen realm - it's not me going out here seeing how many things I can tie together. But it is in His appearing, He will release His messengers - the messengers of His appearing and the result will be the gathering up of saints from all over heaven. This will not be done as such of the earth. At one time I had been part of a gathering - I'm one of those Bereans who tried to gather saints from all over this country and all the world and our goal was to bring them all into the same place. And we gathered a bunch of them up out of 28 states and 13 or 14 countries. We had a tremendous thing there, and then it all fell apart - it all turned to serving itself. And yet it was there that the message of Christ was birthed in my heart. From the standpoint of "the gathering" it doesn't make any difference whether it is 5 or 500. For that doesn't increase the gathering one way or another - THE MEASURE OF THE GATHERING IS CHRIST! But since that day, I've never been interested in any gathering, except this gathering that is taking place as a result of the coming of the SON OF MAN. I do want to be part of the administration of that gathering. But honey, that gathering is gathering up saints from all over heaven. It is not trying to tie old things together and make it look like new. It is gathering up saints from all over heaven and it's just too easy to substitute an earthly gathering for that and glory in it. But darling, it's been done, it's been done so many times that it's old and tired, a worn out effort. It started out with the city wide revivals of the flaming evangelists getting all the churches in town to come together for three nights. I mean that's already been done and it can be done. It is in the ability of man to manipulate it and do it and even do it for God - it can be done. I have done it and it seems noble, and there's nothing wrong with it unless you substitute it for the true gathering which is what we do most of the time. We call that the gathering - and it isn't. It's more like a cattle herd than it is a gathering - herding it all up and trying to keep it in the same pen. Whether it's on a local scale or a national scale, whether it's a local church or organization it doesn't make any difference - it all comes out to the same thing. But my word, there is a GATHERING - UNTO HIM SHALL THE GATHERING OF THE PEOPLE BE! and that's the view that I am declaring to you. Such a one - we must find our lives in Him, our fellowship in Him, our identity in Him, everything in Him. And as you begin to allow the Holy Spirit to bring Him - I'm telling you this thing will just start bursting to you in the scriptures - He'll start coming right out of the scriptures to you. And when it does, you will begin to be part of the greatest gathering that heaven has ever brought together or that earth shall ever see. But it will NOT be numbered as David tried to number Israel - no - it will be measured in the FULNESS OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST! Now you see I haven't got anything against any of the other - I don't, but I just don't have any effort in me left to give it. I don't have any time in me left to give it. I don't have any desire in me left to give it. That's all I can say. My whole effort and desire must be spent on doing what I'm doing. It is a thrill for me to come and talk to you. I don't want to go to a big arena and talk to a whole city, because at this time they can not hear what I have to say. My joy is speaking to those who are hearing. I know the great gathering - I know the great witness that is coming into the earth as a result of all of this. There's no point in me trying to run out and rush it. I understand that. But right now, my joy is speaking here to those who are gathered up in the heavens, not to those who are gathered in an office building with a blue carpet. No - my joy is in those who are being gathered in the heavens. If I find them in an office building with a blue carpet, fine. If I find them in a living room, fine. But my point is, they are gathered in the heavens. Why? Because there is a spirit that witnesses that gathering and that witnesses that view and that voice. Is that the only gathering? God, no, but it is part of a tremendous gathering and I refuse to substitute anything for that tremendous gathering. I can not do it. I hope that I can stay sweet and not do it, but I just can not do it. There's no point in not being sweet, but you must understand that my joy is fulfilled in coming and declaring HIM. Sure, I'd love to have a big building full if it was representative of a gathering that were hearing. Yes, but otherwise - no. Because there's certain things the Lord can do in the multitude, but there's certain things He can not do, and He withdraws Himself to do those things with His own that He can not do in a multitude. And the fact that the Lord in this last year has absolutely curtailed our ministry to those that are hearing and has just forbid me to go anywhere else is not something I'm whining and crying about. I'm finding my full joy in that. But there's a reason for our being told to admonish one another, there's a reason. I'm not teaching and preaching to you during these days. I'm declaring a time to you. I'm declaring a time of HIS APPEARING and I want you to set your hearts to see that. The Lord will show it to you - I couldn't show it to you anyway. I can declare it out to you from the scriptures, and yes, I can do it in a systematic way through a bunch of lessons, but what I'm urged by the Spirit to do during these days is to DECLARE TO YOU A TIME. I believe that it is God's sovereign time to open the heavens here. I believe that. I believe there has been a severe trial, a severe testing, (may not have been as severe as it's going to be) but I believe there has. I believe there's a tried and a tested people. I'm not talking about a perfect humanity. I'm talking about a tried and tested people who have in spite, set their heart to know ONLY HIM, and I'm telling you that I believe the heaven is about to open here, in this segment of the Lord's Body. I believe that it's about to open - A TIME OF HIS APPEARING! The urgency is upon me to declare - tell them to look to heaven - tell them to look for this One Man - tell them not to compare themselves among others or among themselves, but only find their comparison IN HIM - tell them to lift up their eyes - MY APPEARING DRAWS NIGH! That's the only thing I can hear. I believe that God is dealing with hearts in regard to seeing Him, and that can't be put in a lesson - into ten steps. If God is dealing with your heart then tell Him, "Oh God, then turn my heart that I may behold. I'm blind as a bird bat and I want to see Him. Lord, I want to see this SON OF MAN and find my full identity in Him; find the full identity of the Church in Him; I want to find the full identity of creation in Him. Oh, God, reveal your Son in me in this way." And the Lord is only waiting for that kind of cry and that kind of a heart if it is truly coming from the soul. There isn't any ten steps to it - there's just an honesty before the Lord that is required. And as He begins to streak across your heavens, and His light begins to shine - Oh, Hallelujah! then - the INCREASE. Then you just get caught up in it. You get caught up right off of the earth right into the heavens and you begin to find your identity in Him. And of such, the Lord is after nowadays. I'm telling you that's all I'm hearing - LIFT UP YOUR EYES - LOOK TO THIS ONE. HE IS APPEARING! His coming is imminent. His coming is as light. His coming is in the heavens and He is going to fill your heavens with the light of His coming and in that light you will come to look into the marah of God - and there you will not see yourself. You will see Him, but you will identify with what you see and become the appearing of Him. Looking into a new mirror, you will see a NEW MAN! And you will do that in the light - in the light of His appearing. And see, what we're talking about now is the book of Ezekiel - it is the first chapter. It is Ezekiel setting on the river Chebar among the captives (and Isaiah describes the term 'captive' as the people without a vision, people with no knowledge) but what vision is it we're talking about? Honey, most of the Church is setting (that was Israel setting on that river, captive), most of the Church is captive to the carnality of Babylon today. They are setting on the river Chebar, their priests are setting among them, blind as bird bats. Ezekiel confessed it - "I was setting among the captives." And when we will come to confess, "Lord, I'm blind." This is what we have to see. You see, after thirty years of walking in this message, I had to confess, "God, I don't know this thing. I am blind, Lord" You will say, brother you're not blind - you've seen for thirty years. Not this! and if you haven't seen this - you're blind! It doesn't matter what you've seen, if you don't see His very present appearing, you're blind. Because you see, if you are not walking in the light - light is not some subject, light is a PERSON - CHRIST- if you're not walking in Him presently, then you are in darkness. Yesterday's light is gone. Because He is today. He who was your light yesterday is your light today, but HE IS TODAY! And I had to confess, I don't know Him this way. I am blind. And then that term of "MARAH" - the glass of God, the vision of God. Its first meaning is the act of seeing. And all of a sudden it struck me. 'Son, if you haven't seen this mirror, you are blind.' And I began to realize what God considers sight. God considers the PRESENT VIEW OF CHRIST AS BEING SIGHT. He is not only the object which we see, He is the light by which we see. He is both the light, the object of light and the end product of it! And it came to me in my heart, 'My God, I am blind, except I see Him in this way.' And then the Lord brought me back and said "You see it's a good blind. Because it's not the blindness of carnality which is natural light. What you're experiencing is the blindness of the absence of natural light. You are experiencing a blindness that is going to exist until I appear." See that's the reason it says in the Bible this New Creation has no night or day - it's just light. It's trying to describe something to us. Because the first creation has night and day, it's divided so there's light and there's dark. But here, in the New Creation there is just light. But the light is the appearing of the Lord Himself in this day. And there is no other light, so there is no natural light in here. In other words, you can not comprehend this thing in the natural, and if you do walk in natural light, then you are blind and will never come to know Him, and that's what Jesus told the Pharisees. But He said, "You are in the darkness of the Holy Place, the Holy of Holies, the most Holy Place." And it came to me, yes, that Most Holy Place is absolutely dark - but what dark? It is the darkness that results when there is no natural light present. Look, before this great and glorious coming, look what's going to happen - the sun, the moon, the stars, they all fail - NATURAL LIGHT FAILS. Until natural light fails you, there will be no coming of the Lord in your heavens! "Immediately after the tribulation in those days, the sun shall be darkened, the moon shall not give her light, the stars shall fall from heaven, the powers from heaven shall be shaken, then shall appear the sign of the SON OF MAN IN HEAVEN - then shall He appear in clouds of glory. Hallelujah! But only when you find yourself sitting in a place where the sun don't shine, the moon don't shine, there's no star light, which is just other suns. And He said, "you're in the darkness of the Holy of Holies, son, but when you see, you will see by the light of the glory of God, because here, in this place where you now realize you are, there is no light but the glory of God. You will be blind in this place until the glory of God appears. But in this place, you will see nothing but the glory of God." Do you realize how protected you are by that blindness, because nothing can get to you there. No natural light can come in there. When we finally come to a place of realizing that - then you say, then I'll sit here until HE APPEARS! Not sit here in this old place - NO - but I'll abide here. I won't try to conjure up a form. I'll sit here until He appears. And I told you I'm going through a reevaluation of everything. Why? Because the Lord won't permit that I conjure anything up. But I'm catching a few glimpses, and I'm coming to realize some things - I'm realizing that the Church is going to take on a form that if you would see it right now, you wouldn't even recognize it as being the Church. And to a degree that strikes horror in my heart because I know so many are so involved with its present form and desiring to be part of it, and I'm thinking, Oh God, don't let that happen. And then you see that here with the one taken, the other left, the one taken, the other left, and I'm saying ' God, I don't want to be left. I don't want to be left in the old form. I don't want to be left.' Why? Because there's a tremendous tribulation and that old form is not going to stand. We used to say in our traditional preaching, you'll miss the rapture, tribulation is going to get you, the devil, you know, you're going to go through the great tribulation. But I'm telling you now here's the truth of that - you miss this coming - you're going through a tribulation that is unbelievably awesome because it is a tribulation. Oh, my. You look at Revelation concerning the mark of the beast, and that's a very real thing. It's not what traditionalists imagined it to be, but Oh God, and who is reserved from that? Those who stand with HIM in Mount Zion bearing His name. You can not bear His name and the name of the beast. There is a place in Revelation that says they are free, that they have overcome the name of the beast, the image of the beast, the mark of the beast and the person of the beast. Hallelujah to God! That beast that devours - literally devours all flesh - lives on and devours all flesh - leaves nothing but ruin. Well, you miss this coming - you face the beast. See it's just as real. But it's not Russia you're going to be facing - the BEAST. Oh God, let's look up. Let's look up. I tell you His coming is even nigh at hand. In the heavens now, lightning is ready to strike. Let's look up and be caught up in the light of His appearing. It's not going to produce a race of snobs and know it alls. It's going to bring forth a people who walk in the humility of the Lamb, and the understanding that it is NOT I, BUT CHRIST. But I tell you, sweetheart, those who see Him are those who have a heart to see nothing but Him! And that's all I'm telling you. And if that to any small degree alienates you from someone else, well, then I guess you'll just have to suffer alienation while you still try to reach out in all the Spirit of Christ you can to all that you can reach out to. Because we are not going around trying to be alienated or super-saints. But I must set my whole heart upon this appearing. I don't want to miss this appearing. I feel like it's why I was born. I feel like it's why I'm in Him. I don't want to miss Him. And I would very much like to be part of that creation that become the radiant manifestation of that. So, we find ourselves here blind, until the marah of God appears in the heavens and the act of seeing, and then the appearing of the very thing seen - not a figment of imagination - but the appearing of the person IN US. My Lord God - this thing is not just a thought. It's a PERSON who is the very divine thought of God. But the thought of God has great substance to it. Hallelujah - great substance to it. I have now delivered the burden of my heart with regard to what we're all about. With regard to what this time is all about and with regard to what you are part of as a gathering here. I trust that we have at least. That we may all the more join our hearts together for His coming, knowing that His coming shall itself bring about the manifestation. We can't go out and manufacture a false manifestation. If we do, we'll be disappointed, but we can set our hearts to see nothing but this coming. And I tell you, honey, this coming is imminent and when He says "quickly", He means quickly. He doesn't drag on for nine centuries. "I come quickly. I come swiftly. I come with great suddenness." Father we thank you for the grace of God that is ours in Christ, to somehow just come to realize why we're in Him, what being in Him is about to us - what it means, what it requires, some of the small costs of it. But Oh, my Lord, let all of this be lost in the glory which shall be revealed in those who look to behold Him. Oh - Hallelujah to God. While we ourselves, never Lord, proclaim ourselves to be you or the only thing that is you. We do, Oh God, declare that we have a heart to see nothing but you. Let our fellowship one with another be in that - that we have a heart to see nothing but you. And I'm asking you to enlarge that fellowship to the heavens for in that fellowship YOU are glorified. And let us be part of such a fellowship of believers coming forth in the heavens - not alone, part of that number whose hearts are turned to see Him. Let a rejoicing come into our hearts and Lord, let us minister to one another and strengthen one another in this hope, in this assurance - yes, let's be a strength to one another. We need to strengthen one another from time to time. Let us encourage one another in this view - not comparing ourselves among ourselves or among others - No - our only comparison is in you - the SON OF MAN. But let us strengthen one another and encourage one another in this view and in this vision, and share this view with one another in all our gatherings. And be quick, and open and forward to share with all who desire to see the view of the Lord that is very present in us at this time. So Lord, you just lead us and guide us all for the purpose of revealing your Son. We just thank you for it in Jesus' blessed name. Amen. SON OF MAN BY J W LUMAN - LESSON 4 "I say nothing but what I hear my Father say." But He was always hearing the voice of God. Now you have to understand something about the life of Jesus. You have to understand this, and it's only come to me in a very forceful way in the past few months. Here we see SON OF GOD and SON OF MAN. In one being - we see the SON OF GOD - in man. But it's more than that. We see the SON OF GOD as the SON OF MAN. AND THE SON OF MAN IS GOD'S IDEAL MAN - the man that God determined. Only the Son could fulfil that kind of a man. And the purpose you see, was not to have ... - now I know that we are sons of God by birth, but hear me - the purpose was not to have more sons of God, the purpose was to have the increase of the SON OF MAN - a new kind of man - a man whose life is only Christ. This is what Jesus portrayed. He portrayed a man who had no life but Christ - but the anointed of God, the one who was in union with His Father. He displayed that kind of a man. And then every time that He spoke of the SON OF MAN, and I think I've searched out all of them in some way or another, it relates to the CROSS. And it let's you know that it is by the CROSS that the increase of Him shall come forth - it is by the cross - His Death, His Burial, His Resurrection. Well then who is the SON OF MAN? He is a Man who is dead to sin, buried to sin, raised up only by the Spirit of God. The Lord Jesus submitted Himself to all of that. That He may bring forth by His quickening Spirit, multitudes of those just like Himself - one with Him - not a bunch of little Jesuses - ONE NEW MAN. But you see, you and I individually represent that one New Man, though I individually am not the sum total, but wherever I go individually I represent the SON OF MAN - One New Man. One new kind of man. It's not something that a carnal mind can just run out here and do. You know for years we've run around here, "Jesus, Jesus, Jesus" - you know. We've run around here - "I command you..." - and nothing happens. Well really, you know, you know how many things have been contrived like a magician to make people think that something's happened. That isn't to say that God by His grace hasn't performed, but what I'm telling you is, I've always looked at the life of the Lord Jesus and I've said, "Lord, why can't it be like that. When will it be like that?" I'm going to tell you - it will be like that when the SON OF MAN is come - not when a bunch of Christians are running around playing Jesus. Not even in their best intentions - not when just one man, or one ministry, or one everything is trying to perfect some gift. No, no, see that's not what it is. But when the SON OF MAN is come - yes - come in the heavens first, but I told you, this is a coming in the heavens, the heavens above and in the earth. When the SON OF MAN is come - when there is a corporate people who understand "It is not I, but Christ." And who understand the relationship with Him as He did with His Father. He wasn't running around trying to kick the Father off the throne all the time. And yet He declared openly His union with the Father. But He was able to walk into a place, and see, all He did was speak the Truth. He realized that wherever He moved, the Kingdom of Heaven was there. And all He did was say that - "THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN IS AT HAND." See, I don't make that happen. To say that I have to be in a God-given realization that it is so, and you just say what you are aware of. Just like you'd walk in here today in the natural and you'd say, " Well, we're all in this room." You haven't made it so. You have acknowledged a truth and you have stated it. And it is so. Oh, to be able to walk in this room in the awareness of Him, to the point that it doesn't make any difference whether it's a Federal Courthouse, or an east side slum - it doesn't make any difference - and be able to be there and know, in assurance, and be able to say to the troubled hearts that are there - "THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN IS AT HAND. WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE, WHAT WOULD YOU THAT BE DONE?" See, you're not trying to build up a ministry. You're just manifesting a reality. There's a difference here, folks. You know the Lord Jesus wasn't trying to build up a ministry - He hid most of the time. We publish it in Time Magazine. He said, "Shush, don't tell anybody about this." And you know why He said don't tell anybody about this, don't mention this until after the resurrection? He told some. But what an influence He had everywhere He went. That's the Kingdom of Heaven coming into the earth. The government stood against Him, but they could only prevail when it served the purpose of the Father that they did prevail - such as His crucifixion. But you see, that was a sorry victory for the governments of the world. Because all it did was bring to a final judgment God's verdict on the world and bring forth a New Creation in Christ Jesus that would rule in the world. So it really wasn't very much of a victory, was it? They hung Him on the cross and brought the greatest condemnation upon themselves, mankind, that could ever come. And He came forth in newness of life to increase Himself, multiplied beyond measure. Glory to God! And this is the view and this is the realization. You see, when you start talking about the Kingdom of Heaven, Kingdom of God, then you of necessity have to start talking about SON OF MAN, because SON OF MAN sits in His throne. Well what that means is when the SON OF MAN comes into His authority. Honey, I have to understand that anything He speaks of Himself beyond that 3 1/2 years, He is speaking not of Himself alone - He's speaking of Himself only, but not of Himself alone. He is speaking of Himself in a multiplied fashion. He is speaking of that SON OF MAN that is to come - that is no different from Him, but is the increase of Him. and you have to understand that. When He says, "When the Son of Man is come to be seated in His throne of glory..." we have to understand that involves a corporate being coming into the realization of the authority of the SON OF MAN - sitting with me in my Father's throne, He says with regard to the overcomer. Not kicking somebody off the throne, in fact what it is, is having the throne of God established in you - it's having the authority of God established in you. I dealt with one time, as the Lord was dealing with me, "The Man Under Authority". You have no greater authority than you are under. That's it. A man who is not under authority has no authority. The Captain realized that about the Lord Jesus. He said, "You don't have to come to my house, just say the word." The Lord looked at him. He said, " Well, yes, you're a man under authority like as I am. And I can say to this one - Go, and he goes. And to this one, Come, and he comes." What he had realized that this man was under the authority of Caesar, and he had realized that when I speak, Caesar has spoken because I am under the authority of Caesar. I have no authority of my own, but I have the authority of Caesar, because I am under that authority. I serve him and therefore when I speak, he has spoken - under authority. I speak for a greater person than myself. And he recognized you (Christ) do too. But the authority you speak for is God! And that's the reason the Lord said, "In all of Israel I haven't found this kind of understanding - faith." He said that - and this man was a Centurion. "In all of Israel I haven't found this kind of faith. Go - it is done." So we're not talking about a bunch of people kicking God off the throne. We're talking about the very throne of God, the very authority of God being established. See, God wants a Man in whom he can establish his authority - and I'm talking about a corporate mankind. He wants a creation, a temple - all of the types of it are given to you in the Bible, wherein he can establish his authority, wherein he can be made gloriously manifest. The SON OF MAN is such a Man. He was, our forerunner was, and so is that which He will bring forth in the knowledge of Himself. This is the work and ministry of the Holy Spirit today - to bring forth such a One. Now just turn with me to Ephesians 1. I became interested a while back as the Spirit of the Lord began to deal with me about the New Name. Oh, there's some weird things going on out there, folks, with regard to "the New Name." Some believers are getting into a spooky area here - they are giving each other new names. Like - I would be Brother Daniel - they trace their lineage back and come up with it somehow through a natural lineage, and then you have to receive me as that. Let me read you something here, "Which he wrought in Christ when he raised him from the dead (Ephesians 1:20), set him at his own right hand in heavenly places, far above all principality, power, might, dominion and every name that is named, not only in this world but also in that which is to come." Above every name that is named. A lot of folks wanting the name of Angel Gabriel - oh, it's really something, taking all those names - it's like being at a masquerade party. These are precious people who are being so deceived, and wasting their time on lineages and genealogies. Their first question is - What tribe are you? The roots and tentacles of this are here - anything to substitute for Him, anything to substitute for bearing His name. Having no name of our own - bearing HIS NAME - BEARING HIS NEW NAME. We seem to all want a name of our own. "...every name that is named, not only in this world but also in that which is to come." Another thought has come to my mind along this same line. I want to read you something that the Lord Jesus said in regard to this. In John 5, verse 46 He says, "I come in my Father's name and you receive me not. If another come in his own name, him you will receive. How can you believe which receive honor one of another, and seek not the honor that cometh from God only?" I've never really understood all of what He was saying there, but He was saying - if I came in my own name, you'd receive me, but I come in the name of another and you won't. Now honey, we need to hear that. Paul said to the Corinthians, "If I'd come making myself something you'd just give me everything you had. But because I abased myself among you, you've received others, but you've even begun to doubt my apostleship." He said that in the second letter to the Corinthians. And why? Because Paul came not in his own name. He came saying, "Not I, but Christ." Honey, people receive you when you come in your own name, because they can identify with that. But you come in the name of another... Jesus said, "How can you ever believe while you're comparing amongst yourselves." And I thought about that when I ran into these folks. Daniel comparing himself to David. Ezekiel comparing himself to Jeremiah. Paul must have run into the same thing because he said, you're comparing yourselves among yourselves. "Who is Paul, Who is Cephas, Who is Apollos?" We come not in those names. But if you come in those names you receive the honor of that name, and you will receive, but you'll receive it right now. You'd better get all you can get out of it because that's all you're going to get. That name may be confessed among men, but it won't be confessed in front of the Father, because in front of the Father that name doesn't exist. You only come in front of the Father with this name (Christ - the New Name) - the name that is above every name! And that's the name you and I are going to bear. It brings no glory to the flesh, it brings all glory to God. That name is not just a spelling. It is a declaration. It is a recognition. It is an acknowledgment, but it is a nature. It bears with it a nature. You can not bear His Name and not bear His Nature because they are the same. You can not bear His Name and nor bear His Character because they are the same. And yet I'm not saying that it's just nature and just character - it is recognition, it is acknowledgment. But His Name is not just a word. His Name has substance to it. It is a recognition. It is an acknowledgment but it is a nature. It is something you bear - you come to bear His Name! You come to bear it. Now we've talked about bearing things before. Jesus says you can not bear it now. But when the Holy Spirit is come - this term "bear" - it is not just like having a brand burned on you. It's not even like that, and that's pretty awesome. You know - somebody took a hot iron and stamped something on you. You would think that you would bear that, and to some degree you would, but this goes beyond that. The best definition you can find in the Greek will bring you to a coin and you start out with a particular kind of metal. You can't just use any old kind of metal. It's got to be a particular kind of metal, having gone through all the refining necessary, and all of that. But even a particular type of metal not bearing the image is still no good. Now honey, I don't mean to say we're no good here in Christ, but what I am telling you is as far as God's purpose is concerned - we're no good until we bear an image. Now, what I want to tell you is this business of name and image is one and the same thing - it means the same thing. "Beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, we are changed..." we come to bear. The book of Revelation brings it into bearing - that we bear, have that name. We come to bear - changed into that same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord. In other words, there is an image duplicated in our inner man. Our inner man has a form, an image stamped upon him, and it's stamped throughout him. You take the coin and you take it to the press, and the dye, and once the press comes upon it, once it bears the image, it is not a "make believe" quarter, nor is it a piece of metal having the image of a quarter. It is a quarter. It becomes the image it bears. With all of the validity, with all of the authority, everything, it becomes the image that it bears. And until it bears that image, it really has no authority of the image at all - it is a slug. If you try to engrave something else then it's a counterfeit. It may fool some, but the final authority is not fooled. But once the image comes upon it, it is forever that - it will never be anything other than that. I mean even in the natural, it may be a bent quarter, but it's a quarter. It may be a flattened out quarter, but it's a quarter - forever. You take so much as a part of a dollar bill to the Treasury and they'll reimburse you the whole dollar bill, if you can get enough to identify it, because it's forever that - the worth of it. Because it bears the image. If it's just paper, you can have a big time with it. But once it bears the image, or if you take that paper and put it in your printer and counterfeit it - you're in big trouble immediately. I'm relating all that to this here, in Christ. God is bringing us to a point in time to when He's not winking at things. Oh, he winks at a lot of stuff, but not counterfeits here. Look at Matthew 24 - the warning against the counterfeits. Look at the outer darkness - weeping, gnashing of teeth. Look at these statements that are made. Oh, we come to bear the image and to bear His nature - and that's the reason, see, you can't just run around and say 'Jesus, Jesus'. No honey, it's bearing the nature. The nature is unmistakable. The character is unmistakable. The spirit of the matter is unmistakable. Well, "that's a quarter." Well, yeah, we'll see. If it's got the right image it is. If it doesn't, you know. The whole thing has got to be that way. And that has to do with that Name. What I'm telling you is - and it's hard for me to talk about this - BEARING THIS NAME - because of the awesomeness of counterfeiting. You see you don't take this Name, you come to BEAR IT. It's going to be indelibly emblazoned in you - in His coming, and in the Knowing of Him. But to bear His Name means we have no name of our own. All of that is relinquished, given up, and seen to be part of the old. In fact, we come to a realization at one time or another in this growth, that except it be His Name, I'm nameless. You think about it. You come through all of the process of making a U.S. coin, and you got that metal and you get it even cut out in the proper image and all of that is there. Now tell me, unless it really bears the image, it has come to all of that and now, what good is it? It can't be used for anything! Now it's come to the point that if it doesn't bear the image it's worthless. Jesus says, " this salt without savour isn't fit for a pile of dung - salt without savour." Honey - coin without image. New Man without Name, without nature, without character is fit for nothing. I've come to think of this myself, "Boy, you're as worthless as a toadstool except it be for Him. You've come too far. You're not fit for the world, it's either going to be Jesus for you or you're the most worthless thing in existence." I've come to realize this. I either find my place in Him or I don't have one, because I'm worthless to the world. And except I come unto His image, I'm worthless to God. See, except Israel came into Canaan, came into the good of it, what good is it to God? Delivered? Well yes, but so - what good are they to God? And you and I have to come to this realization. This is why Paul says in Hebrews 6 - you can't stop, we can't stop, there's no way we can stop here, we can't afford to stop here, we've got to go on. And at the end of that chapter, says "follow our forerunner, wherein our forerunner has entered..." This is our forerunner - the SON OF MAN and the SON OF MAN our forerunner has ascended into the heavens and is seated at the right hand of the Father. And so He speaks of Himself in the regeneration and says, "When the SON OF MAN is come to be set down in the throne of his glory ..." well honey, that's including you and I. COME TO BEAR HIS NAME. So, I'm just beginning to realize something. And the awesomeness of some things are becoming real - it's not enough just to roll around here and be a slug. There is a certain working of the Spirit of God up unto that point in time and maybe, yes, I could have done something else. But not now. Now it is absolutely ready to bear an image and if it doesn't bear that image, then throw it away - there's no purpose for it. Now here we are - IN HIM - come through death, through burial, by resurrection - all of that - to think we're something? NO - worthless except we bear an image - worthless except we be stamped in the forehead - with HIS NAME. In fact, you are either going to bear His Name or the other name. See, that is the whole curse of the thing. Those who don't bear His Name will come to bear the other name - identify with that. You see the overcomer bears His Name. Well how do you overcome? Well, you overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the Word of their Testimony - that has to do with what we're talking about here - the CROSS. The cross and the word of their Testimony is " Not I, but Christ." He lives! Hallelujah to God! Therefore the beast has no place in me, he has no mark upon me, he has no name upon me, he has no image upon me. I'll show you these people - Revelation 15. "And I saw another sign in heaven great and marvelous, seven angels having the seven last plagues for in this is filled up the wrath of God. And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire." Now we're not going to deal with this, but I'll tell you now that sea of glass mingled with fire is a direct reference to the laver that Solomon built in the temple. And that laver is a direct reference to a looking glass, or the 'marah' of God. And here are all these standing upon that glass mingled with fire, them that had looked into Him - you understand. They had gotten the victory over the beast, over his image, over his mark and over the number of his name and they stand on the sea of glass having harps of God. They stand on the sea of glass and whose image do you think they are seeking? They are looking into this sea - Solomon called it the molten sea that he built. Here it is again - the sea of glass and fire mixed with it - and it is this laver of the WORD OF GOD. But it is the LIVING WORD HIMSELF wherein we look - and behold Him - bearing His image, His Name. They have gotten the victory over the beast, over the mark of the beast, over the number of his name and over his image. Hallelujah to God. And they cease not to give praise. See, it's a tremendous thing but here they sing the Song of Moses. A servant of the Lord, and they sing the song of the Lamb saying, "Great and marvelous are thy works, Lord God Almighty, just and true are thy ways, thou King of Saints." Blessed be the Lamb of God. Right on down the chapter, the fifth verse, "After that I looked and behold, the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony of heaven was opened." Glory to God! Well, all right - HIS NEW NAME. Turn with me to Philippians then - HIS NAME. I do want to give some indication of what that name is. Philippians 2:5, "Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus. Who being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God, made of himself no reputation and took upon him the form of a servant, made in the likeness of men. (This is all coming in the first view of Christ that we are familiar with.) And being found in the fashion as a man he humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God hath highly exalted him and given him a name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, things in earth and things under the earth. And every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father." The Father hath given him a name that is above every name - this is the same thing that is mentioned in Ephesians, "... above all principality, power, might and dominion and every name that is named, not only in this world but also in that which is to come." A name that is above every name. Understanding now folks, this name is a relationship. Psalm 2, verse 6: "I have set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. I will declare the decree. The Lord has said unto me - THOU ART MY SON THIS DAY HAVE I BEGOTTEN THEE." Now hear me. "Why do the heathen rage? The kings of the earth set themselves to take counsel against the Lord and his anointed." A condition is described here. And God's answer to that condition is - TO RECOGNIZE HIS SON UPON THE THRONE! "I have set my king upon my holy hill of Zion." God's answer to this is to exalt the Son in Zion - to bring Him to the throne and declare a decree concerning this Son. And the decree he declares to this Son is a decree that is not declared to any other living organism that has been or ever will be. He looks at him and he says, "THOU ART MY SON". Folks, there is no name, there is no recognition above that. If you ever get a hold of this, you'll see what I'm saying. There is no recognition above that. Look at Jesus. Look at him coming up out of the river Jordan, symbolizing the reality of the death, the burial, the resurrection. And symbolizing a Man coming up out of all of that in the absolute understanding of all of it, because Jordan symbolizes the revelation - the river of revelation. What does Jesus symbolize coming up out of that river? He symbolizes a MAN - A WHOLE GOD-CREATED MAN. He is a forerunner for us, folks. He came to bring forth the increase of Himself. That's what all of this is about, that's what his whole first coming was all about - to bring forth an increase of Himself. Well, all of that is symbolized there. And when He came up out of that Jordan, He came up symbolizing a Man in full understanding of death, burial, resurrection. He is the Man that heaven opens to reveal, the heavens opened to Him - not to John. Who is He? He is the SON OF MAN. Who is He symbolizing? The SON OF MAN. HE IS THE SON OF MAN - the forerunner. Who is He symbolizing? What He's going to bring forth! He is symbolizing there from the very beginning - God always does that, God always sets the end here at the beginning, and then works back to it. He always does that. And at the very beginning of His ministry, He symbolizes the end of His ministry - a Man for whom heaven opens, upon whom the Spirit of God descends without measure and remains. Look at Him over here in the book of Revelation - the SON OF MAN revealed in the midst of the Church, the One that the Church must identify to. He has the Spirit without measure; the seven Spirits of God are His. And what is the declaration of heaven? THIS IS MY SON! Nobody's ever been called that you see - that's a Name! That's an exaltation - above every name that is named. It is expressing of a relationship. Even look into the natural. In the absolute natural, as far as my blood, natural blood is concerned, I've only got one living son. I'm talking about blood son. Now I can call him Jack, Bill, Tom, Harry - it doesn't make any difference because that's not his name. There's a lot of other names like that. But when I look at him, my God, and I say "Son, son", oh folks! Now that's just in the natural realm and there isn't a name like it. There is an identification, a confession - takes it right into the heavens. Because everything else pales anyway. Here it is in the heavens (the New Creation - in Christ). He looks at this one, that His only begotten has brought forth and the thing of it is folks, he looks at this one no differently than His only begotten, because to him this one IS His only begotten, because this one is not there but by His only begotten! Yes, we're there stupid as doornails, but God knows something about us. And we're there most of the time an embarrassment to Him, but He knows something about us. And He has sent forth His Spirit to bring us into that understanding, and it's getting serious nowadays. Because He wants to name this Son. He wants to name Him "SON". He wants to call Him "SON". He wants to recognize Him as His SON. All right, let's look at this recognition that only the Father can give the Son. I want you to turn to Matthew's gospel the third chapter verse 13 through 17. "And then cometh Jesus from Galilee to the Jordan unto John to be baptized of him. But John forbade him saying, 'I have need to be baptized of thee and commandest thou me?' And Jesus answering said unto him, 'Suffer it to be so now, for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness.' Then he suffered him. And Jesus when he was baptized went up straightway out of the water and lo, the heavens were opened unto Him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove lighting upon him and a voice from heaven saying, THIS IS MY BELOVED SON, in whom I am well pleased." Here dear friends, is the Name that is above every name. Now do try to get a hold of what is being said here. THE NAME AND THE PERSON ARE THE SAME. The Name is the Person, the Person is the Name. Here is a person being recognized. This is the finished work coming up out of the Jordan. Do you understand what I say when I say the finished work? This is the END projected from the beginning. God always does that. He always in the beginning, projects this end, and then he works that end, as it were, back to the beginning, because the beginning and the end are the SAME. Do you understand that here the Lord Jesus is the forerunner? He is the personification of that which He shall bring forth through His Death, His Burial and His Resurrection. He shall bring forth an increase of Himself in Glory - John 17. He shall bring many sons unto glory. But it is not many sons that is seen, it is the increase of THIS ONE SON. When God looks upon this scene, he is seeing a New Creation Man, he is seeing the finished work of His Son which is not different from His Son, but rather an increase of His Son. God is seeing his handiwork come up and here at the river it is revealed because Jordan typifies the river of revelation. Jordan is a place of divine revelation. When Israel crossed over into Canaan, Canaan representing everything that CHRIST IS, because it is in Canaan that we see the development, the development, the development, right until there is a house of God's glory. Everything develops. In crossing over into Canaan, they crossed over the Jordan, the Priesthood holding the Ark of the Covenant standing in the midst - identifying that Ark of the Covenant with Jordan itself, and the priesthood with Jordan itself. And the people crossing over Jordan, therefore identifying themselves with the priesthood and with the Ark of the Covenant - a people crossing over in the full view of God's full salvation and the Ark of the Covenant of course, represents the FINISHED WORK OF GOD. It represents God in union with His Man, God in union with His Creation. It represents the SON OF MAN in the full view of the SON OF MAN; the SON OF MAN wherein is established the throne of God wherein is established and manifested the glory of God. The Ark of the Covenant represents this because at the end of the journey, at the end is the temple that Solomon built, and the name of that temple is the House of the Ark of the Covenant of the God of all the Earth. Hallelujah! Well, here comes Jesus up out of the river. He comes up out of the river. Notice how it is put here, "He went straightway out of the water." He went up straightway out of the water and lo the heavens were opened unto Him. There's only One Son to whom God opens the heavens and that's the Son who is in the heavens. Oh, look at it beloved, for YOU are quickened with Him, YOU are raised up together with Him, YOU are made to be seated together with him in the heavens - in heaven itself. And it is God opening the heaven that you and I may behold the SON that He is, yes, and in union with Him, the SON that we have by Him become. That we may behold God's true salvation - not just bringing a people out of Egypt, but establishing a people as One Son, One House, One Dwelling Place - A PEOPLE ESTABLISHED IN HIMSELF, ESTABLISHING HIMSELF IN A PEOPLE. And calling that finished work - HIS OWN SON! Oh, Hallelujah to God! You see it is the Lord Jesus that came out as the Son, and performed all of this, and now brings it all back and delivers it all up unto God the Father, that God may be all and in all. Here is the Picture. Here is the Man. Here is the Son with whom God identifies himself - in whom God is greatly glorified and manifested. What a name! What a name! Only the Father can give this name. Only God can reveal this Son in you and open your heavens allowing you to come to see, to know, to understand your union, your identity, with and as This Son. Blessed be the Lamb of the Living God. What a SON! What a SON! Look, do you remember in I Chronicles the 28 Chapter, verse 5, "And of all my sons, for the Lord has given me many sons he hath chosen Solomon, my son, to set upon the throne of the Kingdom of the Lord over Israel. And he has said unto me, Solomon, thy son, he shall build my house and my courts, for I have chosen him to be my son and I will be his father. Moreover, I will establish his kingdom forever, if he be constant to do my commandments and my judgments as at this day." Then verse 9 through 12, "And thou, Solomon, my son, know thou the God of thy father and serve him with a perfect heart, with a willing mind. For the Lord searcheth all hearts and understandeth all the imaginations of the thought. If thou seek him, he'll be found of thee, but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off forever. Take heed now, for the Lord hath chosen thee to build a house for the sanctuary. Be strong and do it. Then David gave to Solomon his son, the pattern of the porch and of the house thereof, and of the treasures thereof, and the upper chambers thereof, and the inner parlors thereof, and of every place of the mercy seat. And the pattern of all that he had by the Spirit, the courts of the house of the Lord, and all the chambers round about, and the treasure of the House of God, and of the treasures of the dedicated things." I Chronicles 29 - we're going towards something. What we have seen here so far is David delivering the pattern to Solomon whom God has said is "MY SON". I have chosen Him. What is it that David is saying to Solomon? What is the admonition ? - FINISH THE WORK that is given you to do. Bring forth a finished work. Do not come short of finishing the work. God has chosen him to finish the work. He will build my house. I will establish his kingdom forever. Now, " Furthermore David the King said to all the congregation, Solomon my son whom ALONE God hath chosen..." Honey, I'm telling you, this one who comes up out of the Jordan is the ONLY ONE CHOSEN OF GOD. He is the Only Man, the only kind of Man, the Only Son, the Only Creation God will name and identify Himself to. Hallelujah! Do try to get a hold of this. The One that comes up out of the Jordan - the One that comes by death, burial, resurrection and divine revelation - the One to whom the heavens open, the One who indeed is in the heavens, seated in the heavens. He is the only mankind, the only kind of Man, He is the only creation, He is the only Son God identifies to Himself - that God recognizes and names as being MY SON. "Whom alone God has chosen, is yet young and tender, and the work is great, for the palace is not for man, but for the Lord God." There's nothing of this creation, of this house, or of this Son that is for man, but for the Lord God and that the Lord God would be greatly glorified therein. So, Solomon builds this house. II Chronicles Chapter 7 - " Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven, consumed the burnt offering, the sacrifices, and the glory of the Lord filled the house. The Priests could not enter into the house of the Lord because the glory of the Lord had filled the Lord's house." Now, we're not going to get to it now, but not only is this one named Son, this one is appointed as Priest forever. There is a house where only one Priest can minister. It is the house of God's glory. Hallelujah! Now look at Chapter 8, verse 16, " Now all of the work of Solomon was prepared unto the day of the foundation of the house of the Lord until it was finished. So the house of the Lord was perfected." What do we see here? We see that the house, we see that the finished work of Solomon, was the house of God's glory. We see the finished work of the Son. Jesus himself says, "A greater than Solomon is here. A greater than Solomon has come." Therefore we can know that his finished work is greater than the finished work of Solomon. Where Solomon's was a type, a shadow, this one is the real thing and the house that this Son builds - the Son is a NEW MAN - who is one with Himself, who is bearing His very own Name. Glory to God! John's gospel the 4th chapter - the very meat of Him,... look at verse 34, " My meat is to do the will of him that sent me and to finish his work." The finished work of Solomon was a temple. The finished work of the Son is a SON. Hallelujah! The finished work of the Son is the SON OF MAN - the house, the temple, the dwelling place of the Most High God - the One who bears His very own Name. Oh Lord - the One who bears His very own Name. UNTO US A CHILD IS BORN. What did David say when he first introduced him? " He is young and tender and the work is great. For the palace is not for man but for the Lord God." UNTO US A CHILD IS BORN. UNTO US A SON IS GIVEN. AND HIS NAME SHALL BE... Oh honey, I'm telling you God is bringing forth one through the Lord Jesus, one with the Lord, the increase of the Lord Jesus, one bearing the name of the Lord Jesus, who shall bear His Name before all the nations of the world. One with whom, in whom, God has full identity. One in whom God established his full authority, and one in whom only God is glorified for this one is not of flesh nor of the will of man. This one is brought forth through death, burial and resurrection. This one is the increase of the One who is the Firstborn from among the dead, Firstborn among many brethren, that in all things He may have the preeminence. This one is the increase of Him, and bears His Name. Honey, the first realization that comes to you and I that bear His Name is just this - "Not I, but Christ." Not I, but Christ. What a glorious name. The house the Son builds is a Man. One with Himself, bearing His Name. Now look with me in Matthew 17 verse 1 through 9 is the setting. I'll just go right down to the end of it, verse 5, "While he yet spoke, behold a bright cloud overshadowed them, and behold a voice out of the cloud which said, "This is my beloved son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear ye him." In this view of Him there's always a voice connected, but we won't deal with that voice just now. " And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face." Honey, this is the same one Isaiah saw, the same one that Ezekiel saw and called it the "marah" of God - the mirror of God, the mirror that God looks into when he wants to see the exact appearing of himself. That mirror is a MAN, but it's not just any man. It's a Man brought forth through Christ - a MAN brought forth through death, burial and resurrection - a MAN having no name of his own so he bears the name of the Firstborn. Hallelujah! It's not me acting like Jesus - it's me understanding I have no name but His Name. It's not me trying to act like Him, it's you and I coming to understand we have no life but Him! Finding our full identity in Him, with Him, by Him, bearing His Name. Only the Father can reveal the Son in you in this way. Here we have Him in His glory. Here it is that he touched them and said, "Arise and be not afraid." Do you remember Him touching John in the book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ the same way? Do you understand that it's the SON OF MAN that touched John there? And that it's the SON OF MAN that touches the Church, that touches the representative Church here and says, be not afraid? "And when they had lifted up their eyes they saw no man save Jesus only." Honey, this is the only Man the Church is going to see and come to identify herself with in absolute fulness and bear His Name. "Tell the vision to no man until the son of Man be risen from the dead." Why do you think that? Because everything that is being done here is a projection of the REALITY of that One who comes forth by, and in, and through the resurrection. Glory to God! Tell the vision, tell the revelation to no man until the SON OF MAN be risen again from the dead. But honey, now this is the vision we are to declare. This is the revelation we are to declare. This is the revelation Paul declared - the revelation of the New Testament - a people in union with Him - One New Man bearing His own Name, being One with Him in His very own being and in His very own person. A greater than Solomon. Now look back at this business with Solomon. I Chronicles 29 verse 22, "And he did eat and drink before the Lord on that day with great gladness and they made Solomon the son of David King the second time." What were we seeing over here in Matthew? - the second time. " And anointed him unto the Lord to be chief governor and Zadok to be Priest." But in this one that we see over here in Matthew, he is both Son and Priest - Glory to God! Solomon built a temple and had a Priest. The Son brings forth One who IS the temple and IS the Priest! He is both Son and Priest. He is both Only Son, only well pleased Son and He is Priest. "Then Solomon set on the throne of the Lord as King instead of David his father and prospered, and all of Israel obeyed him, all the princes and the mighty men, and all the sons likewise of King David submitted themselves unto Solomon the King, and the Lord magnified Solomon exceedingly in the sight of all Israel and bestowed upon him such royal majesty as had not been on any king before in Israel." Beholding - oh, to see Him in His glory. Paul got a hold of this and said, "Beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, changed into that image." Bearing that same image - bearing that same name. God brought back Moses and Elijah that they may see this finished work. They had desired to know Him in His glory, and He brings them back here, on this mount, and they are able to see His glory. And they talked with Him about His death and then they beheld Him in His glory. Honey, they understand that these three there represent the Church. They behold Him manifested in His own mountain. They see the Church as one with Him. Jesus says in John 8 verse 56, " Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day. And he saw it and was glad. Verily, verily I say unto you, before Abraham was, I AM." And who is He here in this chapter 8? He is projecting Himself once again as the SON OF MAN. And he says Abraham saw my day. Where did Abraham see His day? Look at Genesis 22 verse 4. Abraham has taken Isaac to offer him upon what turns out to be Mount Zion. " Then on the third day, Abraham lifted up his eyes and he saw the place afar off." When? It's a three day journey there - it's death, burial and resurrection. But then you're going to come forth in the vision of something greater than a dead Adam. You're going to come forth in the view of the One who lives only by the resurrection and bears the Name of the Firstborn Himself - the One with whom God identifies, the One that God has highly exalted, lifted up, caused Him to be seated, and given to Him a Name above every name. He hath declared this One who has come forth in Jesus to be HIS ONLY SON! My Lord, My God! Well, it was a three day journey, but what did he see? Verse 13 - " Abraham lifted up his eyes and looked, and he saw a ram." Then verse 15, "He called to Abraham out of heaven the second time and said, by myself have I sworn saith the Lord. For because thou hast done this thing and thou has not withheld thy son, thine only son, that in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heavens, as the sand which is upon the seashore and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies. And in thy seed all the nations of the earth be blessed because thou hast obeyed my voice." Abraham saw the greater than Isaac. He saw the One who comes forth in death, in burial, in resurrection. He saw the One who is the SON OF MAN and whose name is the SON OF GOD. Hallelujah! AND IN THE MOUNT OF THE LORD, ABRAHAM SAID, IT SHALL BE SEEN. Psalm 2, verse 6 - " I have set one in my holy mountain, upon his throne and I have said unto him - He is my Son." And this One who is set upon the throne in the holy mountain acknowledges the Lord has said unto me, Thou Art My Son! and of this One he also says, " Thou art a Priest forever after the order of Melchisedek." Blessed be the Lamb of the Living God! We are going to close, but I'm sure we'll be looking more into this glorious name that is above every name, this identity, this relationship, this recognition given by the Father to the Son. And the only way he can do that is to reveal the SON - the Lord Jesus Christ - the SON, in whom you live and move and have your being; the One in whom you must find identity, the One through whom you have access to the Father. He reveals that Son in you, opening the eyes of our understanding, that we beholding in His very face, behold in Him - who is the marah of God - beholding our union with Him, beholding the glory of the Lord and we are transformed - we begin to bear the image, the nature, the identity, the reality of such a union. WELL HALLELUJAH! BLESSED BE HIS HOLY, HOLY NAME! 4
